Proud Lorraine Kelly bursting with joy as daughter Rosie welcomes first child

Lorraine Kelly is bursting with pride after her daughter gave birth to her first child.

The Scottish TV presenter, 64, was beaming with smiles as she happily announced that she had become a grandmother thanks to her daughter Rosie Kelly-Smith. The Gogglebox star announced, together with her fiancé Steve White, that they had welcomed a baby girl.

Naming the child Billie Kelly Smith-White, the little bundle of joy was born on Thursday (August 29), with the couple sharing a joyous snap of their new arrival. Taking to her Instagram page, Rosie beamed with love for her baby as she shared a snap of the newborn grabbing onto her mum’s finger.

The snap was soon picked up by Rosie’s mum Lorraine, who was thrilled at the happy news. She took to her own social media platforms to shout about the new arrival to her clan.

“I have been BURSTING to share this wonderful news with you!” Lorraine penned, as she struggled to contain her delight at becoming a grandmother for the first time. “Baby Billie is an angel and I’m so proud of mum and dad who will be the best parents.”

She added: “I’m delighted to be Granny Smith and can’t wait to go on adventures,” before adding a slew of hashtags, including ‘love’, ‘joy’, ‘happiness’ and ‘family’. Many of Lorraine’s ITV pals were quick to join in on the celebrations, congratulating the happy couple for their momentous announcement.

Good Morning Britain lead anchor Susanna Reid was one of the first to welcome the news, penning: “Huge huge love to you all and especially to tiny precious Baby Billie.” Similarly, Lorraine relief presenter Ranvir Singh beamed: “Awww the happiest days yet!!! So delighted for you all!”

Other ITV stars also gushed over the little tot, with Loose Women ‘s Denise Welch saying: “Wonderful news. Being grandparents has changed our lives,” followed by two kisses. As well as this, Ruth Langsford added: “How WONDERFUL! Enjoy every second of being Granny!”

Even controversial figures also weighed in to congratulate Rosie and Steve on their new arrival, as Piers Morgan chimed in to wish the couple well. “Many congrats to you all!” he penned.

In the heartfelt post announcing Billie’s birth, Rosie said that her baby had “been here the whole time”, adding that all of her priorities have now changed thanks to her little bundle of joy.”I’d heard how amazing midwives are but they are genuinely walking angels – she’s been welcomed into the world with so much love already,” she wrote in the post, which had fans in floods of tears.

In the lead-up to the baby’s birth, Rosie had given fans a glimpse of the glamour the bubba would be living in. Taking to her Instagram, she shared some adorable snaps of the nursery that Billie will be calling home, with fans gushing over the love the parents were prepping for their kid.
