“I just love things and I just love images, I like religious images.”

The singer has a huge collection of statues and other objects from his six decades touring the world.

Sir Elton also confessed to chatting to his toys and objects as a child in his bedroom when his mum Sheila and dad Stanley argued.

He told the Talk Art podcast: “I found solitude in my bedroom and I kept all my objects, my books, my records, my toys, in pristine condition.

“I found solace in objects because they didn’t harm me. I just always collected them.”

Elton and husband David Furnish’s photo collection will be on show from today at the V&Amuseum in London.
