Strictly Come Dancing star suffers wardrobe malfunction and stumbles minutes into live show

Strictly Come Dancing pro Nadiya Bychkova stumbled on her dress minutes into the show.

It was time for Olympic swimmer Tom Dean to try and impress the judges with his Cha Cha performance during the live show on Saturday night (September 28), but his dance partner Nadiya had a bit of an issue with her outfit.

Tom and Nadiya were the first to hit the dance floor this week, performing a Cha Cha to Earth, Wind and Fire’s Boogie Wonderland. Despite their matching glittering outfits, Nadiya’s costume got snagged mid-performance, leading to a minor stumble.

Regardless, the duo continued with their performance, an act that didn’t go unnoticed by the judges during their feedback. Judge Shirley Ballas was the first to comment on their routine, highlighting the “tiny mishap” and attributing it to Nadiya, reports the Mirror.

Host Tess Daly provided further clarification for viewers who might not have caught the incident. She said: “We had a little costume malfunction! It ripped on her leg.”

Nadiya then indicated where the costume had torn, with both her and Tom sharing a laugh over the incident. Despite the mishap, Shirley commended Tom on how he “coped and carried on”.

However, Craig Revel Horwood was less forgiving, criticising Tom for “lacking fluidity”, which resulted in a score of just 20 points for the pair. Strictly Come Dancing is now well underway, with the celebrities competing each week to win over the judges and the viewing public.

In the first week, JLS star JB Gill stole the show with his enchanting Waltz to Leo Sayer’s ‘When I Need You’ alongside professional dancer Amy Dowden, racking up an impressive 31 points.

Amy made a victorious comeback to the show after being unable to compete last year due to her recovery from stage three breast cancer. On the flip side of the leaderboard was singer Toyah Willcox and her partner Neil Jones. Their Tango to Madonna’s ‘Ray Of Light’ left much to be desired, earning them a mere 12 points.
