This Morning star says hosting show was ‘best week of her life’ – despite major issue

One of This Morning ‘s newest presenters has revealed that she has had the “best week of her life” presenting the hit show.

Sian Welby was speaking to Roman Kemp and Chris Stark on their morning show on Capital FM on Thursday (February 1). During their show, the trio had a chat about Sian’s sudden departure from the radio slot in order to present This Morning.

Welby, 39, took the reins of the ITV show during last week (January 22 to 25), filling in for regular presenter Alison Hammond. She hosted the show together with Dermot O’Leary, and fans praised the show for taking the blonde bombshell on to inject an extra dose of energy to the show.

Now back on her usual radio show, Sian reflected on the experience with her co-hosts. And it was clear that Roman and Chris were ecstatic at Sian’s career move into TV presenting.

Sian had been looking back on her stint at hosting This Morning

Explaining the situation to listeners, Chris admitted Sian had done something “amazing” which was the reason why she was not sat in the booth hosting her usual show. She then butted in and beamed: “Honestly, probably the best week of my life!

“I was on This Morning, I can’t believe they sort of gave me the reins to co-host with Dermot O’Leary who I’ve been watching for most of my life – X Factor, Big Brother, he’s a legend,” she continued. “So for me it was quite nerve wracking because you’re stepping into a show that everyone knows and loves and has their favourites.

She finished: “But I would say, and thank you if did listen and thank you if you did let send a little message because overall, people were so kind. Because I really was a bit of an unknown to a lot of people, you know, ‘who is she?’, but it was nice that a lot of people gave me a chance.”

Co-host Roman added that he was adamantly watching the show and sending her notes on what worked and could have been better. He even quipped that he was scrolling through Twitter to see what the general public thought about her hosting skills.

Sian also reflected on how well she was able to work under pressure, and that the adrenaline of working in front of a camera and moving from one item to the next was a driving force for her. She joking referred to herself as a swan in her preparations, as she was often panicking knowing where to go and what to say.

“They say like a swan is always gracious on the water but their legs are paddling, it was a bit like that,” she admitted. “Obviously I was full of adrenaline and nerves, there was something weirdly addictive about that.”

Many have tipped Sian to be the permanent replacement for Holly Willoughby

Since her stint on the show, many bookmakers and experts have suggested that Sian will become a permanent fixture on This Morning, potentially replacing Holly Willoughby. Welby is already a member of the show’s family, as she often appears presenting the entertainment section of the show.
