The row between David and Victoria Beckham and their daughter-in-law Nicola Peltz descended into open warfare last night as friends of the couple said they were “open-mouthed” at the claims
The ‘feud’ between David and Victoria Beckham and their daughter-in-law Nicola Peltz blew up into a full-blown conflict last night – after years of insiders waiting for it to ‘implode’.
After Nicola’s mates shared a string of shocking claims about the cause of the spat between Brooklyn and his own family, further poking the Beckham bear.
One of Nicola’s friends claimed: “We are at this point because Nicola, an outsider coming into the Beckham family, has been able to help Brooklyn see the emotional abuse and toxic behaviour within his family, that it’s not healthy and it’s not normal and it’s not ok.”
This claim has sparked a wave of anger from those in the Beckham camp, reports the Mirror.
A source close to the Beckhams dismissed the claim entirely, and said: “I don’t think anyone who has ever seen David and Victoria with their children would recognise this deeply unpleasant attack. It doesn’t even warrant a response it’s so ludicrous and patently untrue.”
Another insider linked to the family expressed shock, exasperated that Nicola’s confidants were “pumping out untruths.” They commented: “You wouldn’t expect this of your worst enemy, let alone close family members. The whole thing beggars belief.”
There’s concern amongst friends that Brooklyn is now distancing himself from not just his parents, but also his siblings and long-standing mates.
A friend of Brooklyn shared: “It’s a desperately sad situation. Everyone loves Brooklyn so much and hopes things can be resolved.”
Insiders close to David and Victoria Beckham, as well as sources from LA’s exclusive circles where the billionaire Peltz family reside, have hinted that tensions have been simmering for a while now, with one source bluntly stating: “It was always going to implode at some point.”
Beckham pals are especially riled as the family have ‘bent over backwards’ for Nicola, actively promoting her movie Lola to their millions of fans.
A confidant revealed: “How the Beckhams have been cast as unsupporting is ridiculous when they have been regularly posting about her endeavours to their millions of followers.”
The sore point for the Beckhams, however, is Nicola’s selective affiliation with their fame. Sources cited an incident deemed “bizarre” where Nicola donned the identical Dolce and Gabbana biker jacket that Victoria wore back in 2001 to witness Manchester United winning the Premier League.
Fashion commentators speculated – even Vogue joined the fray – believing Nicola had delved into her mother-in-law’s iconic ’00s wardrobe. But this wasn’t the case, as Beckham insiders can confirm.
One confided: “If not obsessive, it was definitely the most bizarre behaviour especially given relations weren’t the greatest anyway in the wake of the wedding.”
Nicola’s mates have attempted to clear things up about the fashion incident, revealing that her mum innocently bought her a jacket in September 2023, “not knowing Victoria had worn it”.
“Nicola however did recognize the jacket and thought it was sweet to wear something her mother in law had worn,” one friend noted
“Nicola has only ever attempted to be close to the Beckhams as she’s close with her own family.”
Beckham insiders have been discussing about the tension that started brewing before Nicola’s extravagant 2022 wedding at the £76 million family estate in Palm Beach, Florida.
A source claimed: “Nicola was very stressed out and quite difficult to be around and at the time everyone put it down to wedding nerves, and gave her the benefit of the doubt. But looking back it was the beginning of the relationship fracturing.”
The drama hit its peak over a spat about Nicola’s wedding dress, which many people assumed that the gown would be a Victoria Beckham design.
Instead, Nicola strutted down the aisle in Valentino. Nicola’s friends claim that Victoria offered to design the dress but then ghosted her stylist Leslie Fremar when it came to sorting out the details.
Eventually, Victoria dropped a text to Nicola saying she couldn’t do the dress, her friend claimed.
However, those in the Beckham camp are calling out this tale, and urged: “This was such a long time ago… .everyone needs to move on.”
Nicola Peltz’s ‘fierce nature’ has raised eyebrows, with many attributing her characteristics to the influence of her determined billionaire businessman father, Nelson Peltz. An insider revealed: “You don’t get that rich by being shy and retiring. There is no doubt Nicola has inherited his spirit.”
Her in-laws have observed as Nicola and her father engaged in two costly legal battles within the span of two years.
Initially, Mr Peltz took the wedding planners for Nicola and Brooklyn’s wedding, held last April, to court over alleged ‘mistakes’. The wedding planners countered with a lawsuit in a Miami court accusing him of breach of contract and ‘interference’ with a business arrangement.
They ultimately reached a settlement. Subsequently, in July, Nicola pursued a lawsuit against a dog groomer responsible for her chihuahua Nala shortly before the dog passed away.
An insider commented: “Nicola doesn’t take any prisoners and woe betide anyone who crosses her. The Beckhams are now in the crosshairs. It’s why no one can see any way this whole saga ends anytime soon.”
