Madchester legend Bez will be Twisting mellons at official Oasis afterparties. Also thanks band for giving people a living in Manchester. Meanwhile Laim Gallagher gets manicure!
MADCHESTER legend Bez has landed a “nice little earner” out of the Oasis reunions.
The Happy Mondays maracas man admits he is “rinsing” Noel and Liam Gallagher’s reunion shows by DJ-ing at official after parties at New Century following every Heaton Park show this summer.
Bez told the Daily Star: “I’ve got a little earner out of Oasis going on tour. Im rinsing it it’s true. I’m DJ-ing at the after shows in Manchester if anybody wants to go, Nobody’s asked me to do the other ones yet but I can do.”
Manchester will be a nostalgia-fest around the Oasis gigs with Clint Boon of Inspiral Carpets and Stones Roses bassist Mani also spinning discs at the parties.
Bez and the Happy Mondays go way with the Gallaghers, way before the existence of Oasis.
Bandmate Shaun Ryder explained: “When Noel was working for Inspiral Carpet we used to send stuff, it wasn’t emails it was either telexes or letters, and we used to send sh*t to Inspirals. They would send sh*t back to us. But that was Noel who was sending it all cos he worked for them.”
Bez and Shaun both bore witness to the early Oasis gig and loved what the band did for Manchester talent.
Bez recalled: “I was at their very first gig they played with Noel at Middleton. Every gig were scabby little clubs. (Label boss) Alan Mcgee came up with Jeff Barrett (colleague) to Manchester and looking for Manchester bands to sign.”
In fact they believe Oasis is the reason so many people made a living in the 1990s and beyond.
Bez laughed: “Every c*nt we knew was signed at one point. Even me next door neigbour f**king got a record deal cos of them!”
Some legacy.
Meanwhile with less than two weeks to go and the Oasis boys have got their feet up already.
Well Liam Gallagher has at least as rather than work on songs, or his many dance moves (ahem), he’s making sure he’s beautiful for the big kick off.
Liam spilled: “Pampering wk this wk lots of Mani’s n pedis.”
At least their nails will looks good.
Asked if it’s nice to hear brother Noel harmonising with his voice in rehearsals Liam replied on X: “he’s sounding like a little cherub.”
