Britain’s Got Talent has been taken off the ITV Saturday night schedule this week for the first time in the current series, with a huge shake-up to the TV listings
Britain’s Got Talent fans will have to wait an extra day for their fix this week, as the show won’t be gracing ITV’s Saturday night slot (May 16) due to a major schedule reshuffle. The hit talent contest, fronted by Ant and Dec, is usually a staple of ITV’s Saturday evening lineup.
But footie fans are in for a treat this weekend, with the FA Cup Final kicking off at 3pm on Saturday, featuring Crystal Palace squaring off against Manchester City. This means Britain’s Got Talent will now air on Sunday, as the live semi-finals roll on.
Post-match, viewers can enjoy a star-studded lineup including Deal or No Deal Celebrity Special, Beat The Chasers, and The 1% Club. BGT will then take centre stage on Sunday from 7 to 9pm.
The family-favourite show made a triumphant return last Saturday (May 11) for its third semi-final, with fans on tenterhooks to find out which two acts bagged a place in the grand finale later this month.
Kicking off the show was the cast of Just For One Day – a musical that delves into the backstage story of Live Aid, one of the biggest global music events ever, masterminded by Sir Bob Geldof and Midge Ure OBE. Show champ Sydnie Christmas also made a comeback, dazzling judges and audience members alike, reports the Mirror.
After a string of spectacular performances, including daredevil stuntman, Bao; Dance troupe Ping Pong Pang clinched a spot in the final, joined by drag queen opera sensation, Jasmine Rice.
In a heart-pounding moment on the latest live show, Ping Pong Pang just missed out on the coveted Golden Buzzer with Amanda Holden literally begging for the act to jet straight into the final. She implored telly buffs at home to get behind the mind-blowing dancers, awestruck by their performance.
Bruno Tonioli was full of praise: “If I had another Golden Buzzer, I would give it to you,” he gushed to them.
The music mogul Simon Cowell couldn’t contain his excitement: “We have never seen an act like this and we have been doing it a long time. This is my favourite live show so far.”
Meanwhile, Bruno handed his Golden Buzzer glory to Jasmine Rice, the sassy drag queen opera singer who’s now destined for the final, thanks to her powerhouse rendition of “Never Enough”.
The Golden Buzzer is that special something which hands judges – Bruno, Amanda, Alesha Dixon, and Simon – plus presenting duo Ant and Dec, the power to catapult one act each directly to the final showdown.
Jasmine Rice from New York bagged their spot in the big finale after belting out the banger from The Greatest Showman, leaving the panel lost for words.
However, the choice to rocket yet another musical maestro into the finals has stirred a bit of a fuss among fans, narked at yet more singers hitting the stage.
A tweet from one certain viewer declared: “Bgt should be renamed to #xfactor. The final is predominantly made up of singers. Yes Jasmine can sing, but it’s another b****y singer!”.
Ping Pong Pang aren’t sweating the competition though; they’ll be tearing up the stage in the grand finale alongside Stacey Leadbeatter, Olly Pearson, Vinnie McKee and The Blackouts.
