Rapper and music producer Omolulu Akinlolu, also known as HoodyBaby, has been charged in relation to the same incident that saw R&B superstar Chris brown charged with GBH
A musician pal of Chris Brown has also been charged over an alleged bottle attack at a UK nightclub. American rapper and music producer Omolulu Akinlolu, 38, will appear at Manchester Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, 17 May charged with grievous bodily harm with intent.
The Met Police said the charge relates to an assault which reportedly took place at a venue in Hanover Square in London, on Sunday, 19 February 2023.
It comes after R&B superstar Chris Brown, 36, faced court accused of hitting a music producer with a tequila bottle at the nightclub.
Fans gathered outside Manchester magistrates’ court where Brown faced a 30-minute hearing after being charged with grievous bodily harm with intent against Abe Diaw.
Pals earlier dropped off a KFC meal at the police station where he was being held.
The singer, who dated Rihanna on and off from 2008-2013, was refused bail as District Judge Joanne Hirst sent the case for a trial preparation and plea hearing at London’s Southwark Crown Court on June 13 — five days after his Breezy Bowl XX tour is due to start in the Netherlands.
Brown was arrested at 2am on Thursday at the Lowry Hotel in Salford after flying into the UK in his private jet for rehearsals and publicity ahead of his tour.
Wearing a black T-shirt and Nike jogging bottoms, and flanked by two security guards, confirmed his name was Christopher Maurice Brown during the brief hearing on Friday.
Prosecutor Hannah Nicholls said the alleged victim was bottled on February 19, 2023 in London’s Tape nightclub.
She told the court: “The victim was stood at the bar when he was attacked by the defendant who struck him with a bottle a number of times.”
The solicitor said Brown pursued the man across the club to another space where he was again “kicked and punched by the defendant and one other”.
She added “it was an extremely serious unprovoked attack” which had been caught on CCTV.
Brown’s barrister Grace Forbes described him as “public figure well known on the world stage”.
The Go Crazy singer has been remanded in custody until next month.
He is scheduled to appear at the Co-op Live arena in Manchester on June 15 for the first of 16 UK gigs before heading to Dublin on June 28.
The section 18 offence carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.
