Before Adam Hussain tool on the role of Dev Alahan’s son Aadi Alahan in ITV’s Coronation Street, the popular character was played by young actor Zennon Ditchett
Coronation Street’s original Aadi Alahan has totally transformed since his days on the cobbles.
The character is now played by actor Adam Hussain, but before Adam was cast in the part in 2020, Zennon Ditchett starred as Aadi. He bagged the role of Dev Alahan’s son in the ITV soap in 2009, taking over from the triplets who played Aadi as a baby.
He remained there for over a decade but in 2019 decided it was time for him to move on because he was doing his A-levels at school. Fast forward five years, and Zennon now looks completely different to when he was a Weatherfield regular.
All grown up and with his studies behind him, he has an exciting new career as a management accountant. He started working in the area after studying accounting and finance once he had finished school, and started working his way up at JD Sports Fashion Plc.

Then last year, the former soap star became a full time management accountant. According to his Linkedin profile, he works for a firm called REFY and the accompanying snap shows him looking very different to how he did on Corrie.
In the soap, Aadi is the son of Dev and Sunita, who died in 2013 after the Rovers Return fire. He is the twin brother of Asha, who is played by Tanisha Gorey.
When Adam took over the part, he had previously had roles in Fertile Crescent and Ansentia. But he really made his name in TV drama The Bay as Josh Nubhai.
He already knew Tanisha, which he has said helped him to treat her as a sibling on screen. “I was already good friends with Tanisha Gorey, before coming to the street, which helps hugely with portraying the bond of brother and sister,” he said when he was cast.
Adam also said he was looking forward to putting his own spin on Aadi. “I am excited to play the role of Aadi, putting my own twist on him,” said the actor.
He went on: “Everyone at Coronation Street has been so welcoming, bringing me in to their family and treating me as one of their own.”
Over the years Aadi has been involved in some big storylines. He dated Summer Spellman, had to deal with the death of his mum and has had to grapple with tension between him and his dad.
He, Dev and Asha were also in a car explosion, and in 2022 he ended up being shot. Aadi was injured when he bravely jumped in front of a bullet to protect Kelly (Millie Gibson) from Keiron, but luckily he pulled through.
