Danny Dyer has been spotted beaming on the red carpet as he posed alongside his lookalike dad, who is rarely seen in the public eye, as they attended the premiere of Danny’s new film
Danny Dyer couldn’t keep the smile off his face as he posed alongside his dad at the premiere of his new film, Marching Powder.
Danny, 47, looked proud with his father as they walked the pink carpet for his new film. Danny opened up about his family last year and touched upon his difficult childhood.
Dyer said: “The way [Anthony] was parented, he used to get shut in his room with no dinner and he used to have to hide biscuits and his dad used to beat him a lot. He was bought up in the 50s and 60s.”
“I remember when [Dad] told me I wasn’t allowed to hold his hand anymore. It was a weird thing for me because I held my hand out and he blanked my hand,” the star recalled while talking to his daughter.
“I’ve got a lot of traumatic experiences as a kid but that one f****** killed me. He had said to me: ‘No we don’t do that anymore, boy’ and I accepted that and thought: ‘Oh okay,’ but I’ve not carried that on with my own children.”
Antony and Danny grinned for the camera as the actor placed an arm around his father. He placed his other hand on his dad’s chest, as they both looked happy and posed for the premiere.
The event was a family affair as his daughter Dani also appeared loved up with her fiancé Jarrod Bowen, and turned up to support Danny. His other daughter, 17-year-old Sunnie, also joined the family on the bright pink carpet.
Danny’s little boy Arty actually features in the film, in a gloriously sweary turn as JJ. Danny has joked that no other child could do the role, but revealed his son has expressed no further interest in following in his footsteps with acting.
The Human Traffic actor talked about the experience on the podcast he hosts with Dani, called Live And Let Dyers, as he opened up about the film. He plays a loveable tearaway chracter called Jack as he tries to turn his life around when he faces prison.
“Little man’s in it as well. Ooh, that’s a f****** exclusive, no one knows that. Arty is in it. My son, my actual son and heir.”
“He’s so good in it” praised Dani, as dad Danny replied proudly: “Yeah, he’s brilliant” He added: “I swear to you, this is something very, very different. You will see a lot of me doing press over the coming weeks.”
He spoke highly of the film, raving: “It is something I’m very, very proud of. Because it is a love story; it’s a working-class love story,’ he says.
“Classism is a thing, and most rom coms are never set on a council estate. There’s Pride & Prejudice, there’s someone in f****** britches!”
