An Emmerdale star has reportedly quit the ITV soap after a stint as their iconic Dales character, amidst a string of other actors leaving the soap after shock announcements
Another Emmerdale star is leaving the show.
Rachael Gill-Davis is reportedly stepping back from her portrayal of Gail Loman after a two-year stint. Gail swept into the show as Ryan Stocks’ flame, first bumping into him in 2019 before she became a regular fixture in 2023.
It looks like Gail and Ryan’s romance could hit the rocks with a secret child plot twist, as reports hint at Gail packing her bags to leave the village. Insiders reckon the time is right for Rachael to “spread her wings”, especially since the writers seem to have run dry on storylines for her character.
Gail’s currently pulling pints at The Woolpack, the soap’s iconic local, yet no onscreen hints have dropped about her departure.
A source told The Sun: “Rachael has loved her time on the show but it’s time to go. Bosses felt the character wasn’t inspiring much story and so it was all very amicable,” reports the Mirror.
“The door has been left open but it’s a definite goodbye for now. Rachael is looking forward to spreading her wings and showing off her talents on other shows.”
Rachael has reportedly already shot her last scenes, indicating she could be leaving within the next couple of months. Fans will undoubtedly be guessing how Gail will exit the show, and it’s believed that the possibility of a comeback will be left open.
Daily Star has reached out to Emmerdale for comment on these claims. There are still major twists and potential departures to come, with Joe Tate possibly facing a terminal illness and a funeral looming.
Caleb Miligan will also be battling for his life, as hinted in a recent trailer. Rumours are swirling about a massive stunt wreaking havoc at the start of 2026, but that’s still some way off.
Meanwhile, other village characters have recently met some grisly fates – five snuffed it in recent memory, including Amy Wyatt, Leyla Harding, and Suzy Merton in a limo disaster, along with Nate Robinson and Anthony Fox’s deaths.
Brenda Walker is also rumoured to be leaving soon, while others who’ve left already left include Wendy Posner, Amelia Spencer and Tom King.
