Emmerdale actress Amy Walsh, who plays Tracy Metcalfe on the popular ITV soap, has had plenty of shocking storylines, but one in particular made her feel ‘weird’
Emmerdale star Amy Walsh, known for her role as Tracy Metcalfe on the show, comes from a family with a rich showbiz heritage. Her sister Sally also graced the ITV soap as Lyn Hutchinson, while her other sibling Kimberley Walsh shot to fame with chart-topping Girls Aloud, proving that star quality is in their genes.
Despite her showbiz roots, Amy encountered an awkward hurdle when she returned to Emmerdale after her honeymoon, diving straight into filming steamy scenes.
Tracy’s on-screen romantic turmoil, which includes cheating on her husband Nate (Jurell Carter) with Caleb Milligan (William Ash), didn’t take a break for Amy’s real-life wedding.
Speaking to the Off Script podcast, Amy candidly spoke about the bizarre experience of returning to set for passionate scenes after tying the knot. She said: “When I went off for my wedding and came back from my honeymoon, literally the next day I had to snog two different people on set – Nate and Caleb. And I thought: ‘This is so weird.'”
She also offered a glimpse into her home life with her spouse Toby-Alexander Smith, known for his role as Gray Atkins in EastEnders, sharing: “I was coming home from work and, I was kissing [Toby] hello from work and I think, ‘I haven’t even washed my face’,” reports OK!.
Tracy’s character is currently in a bit of a pickle, struggling to keep her head above water financially and dealing with Nate not coughing up child support for their daughter Frankie.
She’s been nicking cash from Eric Pollard’s farm shop till, all the while trying to make him think he’s messed up his own books.
Emmerdale spoilers ahead
But things are about to get even more grim as Tracy finds herself in the frame for murder. Amy dropped hints that there are a few giveaways that could land her character in hot water.
“Just little bits like Tracy using Nate’s credit card, and stuff like that because that plants her further in the frame of potentially having motive to get rid of him,” she said.
“It’s initial shock and then it’s a pretty instant emotional breakdown mainly through the guilt she has about it, about not looking for him.
“Thinking the worst, you know, all the bad things she said about him since knowing that all that time he was, you know, dead in the lake. It’s really heartbreaking. The whole everything that unfolds after that initial news is just heartbreaking.”
However, she cheekily warned other characters on the ITV soap to “not mess” with Tracy as she fights to clear her name in the upcoming episodes.
While Tracy reckons Cain Dingle was the one who gave Nate a pasting before he “left”, she’s going to be the one facing most of the finger-pointing.
Tracy is set to take desperate measures, even fibbing to the coppers by saying she was at her sister Vanessa’s when he died, dragging her sister into backing up her alibi.
In other juicy spoilers, Tracy and Ruby’s row turns nasty, ending with Tracy giving Ruby a smack across the face. Amy hit up her Instagram story to post a pic of the scrap, adding the caption: “Do not mess with our Trace”.
