Emmerdale’s Isabel Hodgins marries in front of co-stars and announces baby news

Emmerdale star Isabel Hodgins has married her long-term love Adam Whitehead in a stunning city-centre ceremony – and she’s revealed a baby bombshell

The couple tied the knot in style

Emmerdale’s beloved Isabel Hodgins, who has been in the soap biz since she was a mere 12 years old, has tied the knot with her teacher beau Adam Whitehead.

The ceremony was an intimate affair, graced by the presence of her close friends and Emmerdale co-stars. Despite her on-screen confidence, Isabel confessed: “I know I’m an actor but I don’t like being the centre of attention,” as she reflected on her special day.

She may not have been a fan of the wedding prep, but the big day itself was a different story. Isabel shared with a chuckle: “A wedding’s quite stressful, so even before it I was over it.”

However, when the day arrived, her tune changed: “Then the day came and I was like, we’ll just go with the flow. It was perfect. I couldn’t believe how much I enjoyed it, how full my heart was. It was just brilliant.”

While Isabel is a staple on the Yorkshire-set soap, her roots are firmly planted in Manchester, making a city-centre wedding at the trendy Castlefield Rooms a must. She reminisced about the significance of the location: “Some of our first dates were in town,” Isabel said. “And we like to run there, so I think it was nice that we kept it there,” reports the Mirror.

Isabel was graced with glorious sunshine on her big day, making her choice of a strapless dress with a sweetheart neckline from Aussie designer Sassi Holford a stroke of luck, despite earlier doubts and a nerve-wracking hunt for the perfect gown. Isabel recalls, “At first, I was like, ‘Why am I looking at sleeveless dresses for an April wedding? What an idiot.’ But we struck gold with the weather.”

The wedding was a star-studded affair – and the couple’s perfect day

She shares her struggle with finding the right fit: “I’m only 5ft 2in and a half and I feel like wedding dresses are made for tall ladies,” she says. “I thought it would be more fun than it was. The dresses were beautiful, but not on me, so I quickly realised it needed to be plain because otherwise it’s the dress wearing me, not me wearing the dress. And whenever I tried a veil, I felt like I was playing dress-up. I felt beautiful in it, which is all you want.”

With the support of her bridesmaids, Emmerdale star Eden Taylor Draper and childhood friend Shannon Moran, along with her mum, Isabel managed to stay composed while getting dolled up.

Joining them on the dance floor were Emmerdale mates Danny Miller, Mark Jordon, Laura Norton, Jeff Hordley, and Zoë Henry. Isabel considers her co-stars family after nearly 19 years in the Dales. “I’ve known them for so long, Laura’s like a sister to me. Eden was my bridesmaid. They’re just all such special, beautiful people. I said in my speech that me and Adam hadn’t been going out for very long and I was telling Zoë about him and she was like, ‘I’ve got a feeling you’re going to marry this man. ‘ She just knew.”

Adam, a secondary school PE teacher, admits he was clueless about Isabel’s acting career when they met at the gym. “I recognised her face but didn’t know where from,” he recalls. “When she followed me, I realised she was from Emmerdale. I went to the Soap Awards with her and only then appreciated how big she is. I’m proud, but she hates watching herself so we don’t watch it. “

She and Adam are buzzing with excitement for an epic summer getaway to California, and their minds are already racing towards even bigger life goals, like starting a family. “If that happens, amazing. If it doesn’t, I’ll say that’s fine too, but I won’t really mean it,” Isabel chuckles. “My sister had two toddlers during lockdown. I moved in with them. I just loved it. I think I’m ready to have that myself now.”

Adam is on the same page, affirming, “Having a family is our next step. I’m looking forward to what the future brings.”
