Eurovision fans just realising Graham Norton’s real name ahead of tense final

TV presenter Graham Norton was forced to change his name many years ago many Eurovision fans may not know what the comedian’s moniker was before he swapped

Graham Norton is not his real name.

The chat show host’s name is actually Graham William Walker.

When he joined Equity, an actor’s union, he decided to mix things up and adopt a different last name because there was already a comic-actor named Graham Walker.

He went with Norton as this was his great-grandmother’s maiden name.

The Irish comedian, broadcaster, actor and writer was bron in Clondalkin, County Dublin, Ireland on 4 April 1963.

They 62-year-old will be hosting the Eurovision final for the UK as Remember Monday take to the stage to sing their hearts out for a chance to take home the crown.

Ahead of the final [17 May], Graham branded the band “flawless”.

This trio is the first girl group flying the flag for the UK since Precious in 1999. Graham said: “Remember Monday have a great advantage in that they are unlike any other act this year.”

“Their vocals and harmonies are flawless, the song has a very strong hook and the trio are hugely likeable. With a decent place in the running order they should do very well indeed.”

However, he also heaped praise onto Miriana Conte who is representing Malta and Ireland’s EMMY “with an unlikely banger about an immortal dog”.

Norton also pointed out there may be a dark horse in the runnings: “Cutting through all the noise I think Italy might have a good year with a classic rock ballad performed by Lucio Corsi.”

He also recently said: “I know nothing about the plans for the Grand Final yet, but when it’s a country like Switzerland that haven’t hosted for 36 years, I suspect they are going to pull out all the stops! I can’t wait to see what they have in store.”
