Loose Women star Frankie Bridge has been married to former footballer Wayne Bridge since 2014 and the couple share two sons, Parker and Carter, but Frankie is worried about their future
Frankie Bridge opened up about her hesitations over husband Wayne Bridge getting a vasectomy, hinting at uncertainty in their future together.
The Loose Women star, 36, who tied the knot with the former footballer, 44, in 2014, expressed her doubts by saying, “you just never know what’s going to happen”.
In a candid chat, Frankie revealed she wouldn’t want Wayne to undergo the procedure as it would mean closing a chapter for them both. A vasectomy is a permanent form of birth control that involves cutting the sperm-carrying tubes and is a common choice for many men each year.
The singer explained that a vasectomy would feel like a final decision, as they might not stay together forever. “Having a vasectomy is a door shut for me, it’s also a door shut for him,” she stated.
Talking to The Sun, Frankie continued: “You know, we might not end up together and he might want another baby. Or something might happen to me, and he might still want another child, because men can do it for as long as they want.”
Earlier in the year, Frankie hit back at “double standards” after facing trolling over her parenting style. The ex-member of The Saturdays responded to criticism from followers about how she raises her sons, Parker and Carter, after being labelled “the worst wife and mother”, highlighting the online abuse she receives, reports the Mirror.
Frankie drew attention to the disparity in how she and her husband Wayne Bridge are treated by trolls when they work away from home, noting that Wayne never receives hateful messages. The issue came to a head when Frankie took a four-day break with a close friend to focus on her well-being after her recent health struggles, including the discovery of a benign tumour in her neck.
In a candid post, the Loose Women star wrote: “I’ve learned to be pretty thick skinned during my years in the public eye and I deal with these comments every day. But these comments aren’t just directed at someone in my position. A lot of women have a similar experience in many different ways.”
Reflecting on her past, Frankie admitted: “As I was growing up, I feel I was very naïve to the double standards set upon women, and never really felt they applied to me. I think that because I hadn’t experienced any sort of sexual harassment in the workplace, I felt I’d come out unscathed.”
However, she now recognises the double standards that exist, citing the differing expectations for boy bands and girl bands as an example. Frankie explained how Wayne encouraged her to take a break after her health issues took a toll on her mental well-being, revealing: “I and everyone else around me could see I needed a break and I reluctantly took the holiday, squeezed in at a time that would cause minimal damage to the boys’ schedule and mine.
“This meant fitting in as much as possible before I went away, still be contactable and hitting the ground running when I returned.”
She battled feelings of guilt over leaving her family but came to understand that she was entitled to a break, yet cyberbullies didn’t hesitate to berate her for taking time away from her kids.
