Gemma Collins shared her excitement about participating in the Pianothon with Channel 4, saying: “I loved having the chance to be part of the Pianothon with Channel 4 and doing something a bit different.”

She continued: “It was a chance see the GC in a new light,” adding, “I was a bit disappointed I couldn’t ship my leopard-print piano into Liverpool Street Station, though.”

It comes after the channel’s research found that 40% of people surveyed would most like to master the piano. A study of 2,000 adults revealed that piano is the most common instrument played by musically inclined individuals (46%), followed by guitar (32%) and drums (20%).

“Music is about connecting with people and sharing moments of joy,” said Gemma “and what is more joyful than surprising people in a train station with loads of brilliant music? Maybe this is the start of something exciting for me watch this space.”

For those who don’t play an instrument or don’t do so regularly, 33% cited lack of time as the reason, while 27% felt lessons were too costly. The research also showed that a whopping 88% are impressed when they witness someone skilfully playing the piano.

Furthermore, 67% expressed a desire for more free live music events, as 46% of concert-goers reported feeling ‘uplifted’ when attending such events.
