Helen Flanagan has teased that she could be making a return to Coronation Street, with the actress suggesting that the ITV soap opera “needs” her character Rosie Webster
Actress Helen Flanagan has dropped hints about a possible comeback to Coronation Street, claiming the soap “needs” her and her character. Six years after waving goodbye to the cobbles, she opened up about the iconic show.
At 34, Helen is famed for her portrayal of Rosie Webster on the beloved ITV soap. She first appeared in 2000 and stuck around until 2012, with a brief return from 2017 to 2018, but Rosie hasn’t been spotted since.
Rumours have been swirling about her potential return in recent times. Earlier this year, Helen expressed her eagerness to make a comeback and playfully suggested how Rosie’s return could unfold, envisioning her character working at the Rovers Return and leaving her children with Sally Metcalfe (portrayed by Sally Dynevor).
Chatting with the Mirror, she previously remarked: “I would love to go back to Coronation Street.”

She envisioned Rosie’s comeback scenario, saying: “A single mum with a real storyline, with two kids that she dumps with Sally to have her Rovers return play out an iconic barmaid role.”, reports the Mirror.
However, last month whispers hinted that it might not be the right time for Rosie to make her way back to Corrie. Now, Helen has stirred the pot again regarding the chance of reviving her role during a chat with the Sun, which hit the headlines earlier tonight.
Helen teased: “I can’t say too much, but it could be possible that I could go back.”
The ex-Corrie star also mentioned her great rapport with “everyone” on set, which “changed” her life. She then professed her “loyalty” to Corrie.
The actress opened up about her connection to Rosie, with Helen revealing to the media that she feels the character is “part” of her. She hinted that not only does Corrie “need” her, but the show “needs” Rosie as well.
Helen also showed interest in diving into Celebrity Big Brother at some point. She’s already dipped her toes into reality TV waters, having been on Celebs Go Dating last year.
She joined the jungle crew on I’m a Celebrity back in 2012, sharing the spotlight with EastEnders celeb Charlie Brooks, who clinched the win that year. Helen returned for more action in the ‘All Stars’ edition aired in 2023.
Yet, Helen voiced concerns about how reality TV stints might impact her reputation as an actor. She remarked: “If you want to focus on your acting, I do think sometimes it can be hard going down the reality TV route to be taken seriously.”
Since Helen’s last stint on Corrie, Rosie’s family tree has sprouted new branches in Weatherfield, giving her more kin than ever before. This includes her aunt Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney), who made a comeback in 2019 after three decades away.
And just recently, another member of Rosie’s father Kevin Webster’s (Michael Le Vell) clan rocked up on the street. Carl Webster (Jonathan Howard), Kevin and Debbie’s younger brother, was introduced to fans last month.
