This Met Gala provided us with some amazing looks from some of the biggest celebs in the world right now – but Rihanna stole the show with her bump, outfit and makeup look. Here’s her beauty regime
Rihanna dazzled at the Met Gala, where she revealed her huge baby bump – meaning child number three is on the way for the popstar.
However, while many fans were overjoyed about her pregnancy, others were more focused on her stunning interpretation of the theme ‘Superfine: Tailoring Black Style’ at this years event, held in New York, US.
The popstar-turned-entrepreneur graced the carpet in a head-to-toe ‘fit from Marc Jacobs, which featured a cropped jacket and a striped bustier that perfectly caressed her baby-brewing tum.
Rihanna posed for the camera in the outfit that was finished off with some polka dot accessories and, of course, a stunning – yet simple – makeup look.
Some say the beauty products are the most important part of tying a look together, good job the Fenty founder had an artist on hand to put a huge tick through that box.
Here, we take a look at how Fenty Beauty Global Makeup Artist Priscilla Ono created Rihanna’s Met Gala look – and where you can bag the products yourself to recreate the look at home.
Skin Prep
The most important thing about a makeup look is nailing your base, ask any makeup guru. And that becomes more important when you’re in front of bright lights – both lighting the carpet and from the flash of paparazzi.
No wonder makeup artist Priscilla Ono used a five-step skin prep routine to make sure Rihanna’s gorgeous skin had a dewy canvas to create the look from.
Using products from Rihanna’s own makeup brand Fenty Beauty, Priscilla prepped the base with a combination of toner and moisturising SPF – both smoothing the complexion and protecting the skin.
The pro-artist also used the aptly named ‘Pre-Show Glow’ AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acid) treatment, this chemical is proving to be one the most popular of the skincare world of recent.
Priscilla finished the base with a lip mask and body cream, for the smooth skin appearance – no matter how harsh the lighting is.
Complexion
Once Priscilla nailed the skin prep, it’s time for the complexion – this is where the likes of your foundation and concealer comes in.
Fenty, and Rihanna, have been celebrated for their large range of tones making for an inclusive beauty range. So whether you’ve got paler or darker skin, you can still recreate the Met Gala look.
Priscilla used the ‘Fenty Beauty Soft Lit Naturally Luminous Longwear Foundation’. This is perfect for a ‘glowy’ look, but without looking oily or sweaty.
This is key whether you’re on a red carpet or ready to take a pre-night out selfie with your ring light. The makeup artist also used the Suede Powder Blush in Lolly Poppy, which made Rihanna’s cheek bones ‘pop’ – even under her huge Met Gala hat.
Eyes
Next up, the eyes! This is where you can have some fun after setting your base. Priscilla didn’t overcomplicate the look but, instead, kept things relatively simple with three products.
This is likely a nod into the growing appeal of skincare and the ‘makeup no makeup’ look, a trend which sees beauty lovers opt for more natural styles than the uber-glamourous looks we often see on the red carpet.
The makeup artist used the ‘Fenty Beauty Flyliner Longwear Liquid Eyeliner In Cuz I’m Black’ to line Rihanna’s eyes. This made her stunning eyes pop from a distance and even under that large hat we’ve already mentioned.
She also used a shimmery eyeshadow to add a bit of glitz to the red carpet look.
Lips
Rihanna left her music career and the once-loved matte lipstick back in 2016. In 2025, Rihanna is busy running her businesses, raising a family and opting for a glossy lip.
Lips make for one of the simpler steps, but it’s ultimately one of the most important to nail the complete makeup look. Priscilla simply used a ‘Fenty Beauty Trace’d Out Pencil Lip Liner In Extra Thigh’ to line Rihanna’s lips.
In a slightly lighter colour, she used the Fenty favourite ‘Gloss Bomb Shimmer Stix ‘ in the shade ‘Fu$$y’. This gave Rihanna a sculpted, but seriously glossy pair of lips for the Met.
Hair
Although Fenty Beauty have become a cult-favourite amongst makeup lovers, they also dabble in hair care and styling too.
Rihanna’s hair couldn’t really be seen underneath her hat, but Priscilla and her team shared what they did to keep her long plait together.
