James Bond fans fume franchise will be ‘destroyed’ as bosses make bold decision

Film fans are not happy with the latest decision regarding the future of the James Bond franchise and many of them have taken to social media to share their frustrations

James Bond fans are furious.

Film lovers are fuming that 007 is now under “creative control” from Amazon. Amazon MGM Studios, Michael G. Wilson, and Barbara Broccoli – the daughter and step-son of Albert Broccoli who started the film franchise back in 1962 – today announced that they have formed a new joint venture to house the James Bond intellectual property rights, and those parties will remain co-owners of the franchise.

Amazon MGM was founded when Amazon bought James Bond’s parent studio back in 2022. After the news was announced, disappointed cinemagoers headed to social media to fume over the decision. Many fear that the Bond name will be changed for the worst, similar to other franchises bought out by large entertainment companies.

One person savagely typed: “RIP James Bond. Amazon will destroy a great franchise, like Disney have destroyed Star Wars.”

Someone else on X/Twitter wrote: “We used to get a (generally) very good James Bond movie every few years, but that’s all out the window now. Get ready for Young Q and 00 Origins: Trevelyan, and other unwatchable Amazon Prime slop going forward.”

Another Bond fan upset by the news said that “it’s kinda sad to see the last family-owned movie franchise handed over to the suits”. They also urged Amazon: “DON’T cinematic universe James Bond.”

“This is one of our last, great theatrical events. Don’t dilute that with a plethora of streaming spin-offs.”

Someone else chimed in: “James Bond the character gets blown up into a million pieces to save his child, James Bond the franchise gets blown up into a million pieces to give Amazon content. It’s like poetry, they rhyme.”
