Hawkeye actor Jeremy Renner has opened up on his relationship with his ex-wife Sonni Pacheco, who accused him of threatening to kill her and biting their daughter Ava
Jeremy Renner has revealed that he enjoys a pleasant rapport with his ex-wife Sonni Pacheco.
The Hawkeye star’s marriage to the Wingman actress Pacheco ended in 2014 after a mere 10 months, and in 2019, Sonni filed for sole custody of their 12-year-old daughter Ava, citing allegations of Jeremy threatening to take his own life and hers, as well as biting their child.
Despite the acrimony at the time, Jeremy – who refuted Sonni’s claims – revealed they now co-parent harmoniously, sharing custody of Ava, and their relationship is cordial.
In an interview with the Guardian’s Saturday magazine, he said: “[We] get along very well, and we’re in each other’s lives. It’s lovely..
“It’s great. She’s got a new baby and she sends me beautiful pictures.”
The 54-year-old actor confessed that the public accusations levelled against him didn’t sit well with him.
He stated: “Whatever stress I’ve had in life I’ve tried to find a way of laughing through it. And that’s where sometimes cynicism comes out – you think, ‘I’m just going to have a laugh at this stuff.'”.
When pressed to clarify what he meant by “stuff”, Jeremy elaborated: “Being accused of things you’ve not done, right? That doesn’t feel good to anybody. It certainly doesn’t feel good when you’re a celebrity and it’s known to everybody.”
Jeremy acknowledged that he was referencing the allegations made during their divorce proceedings and continued to assert his innocence. He revealed: “No, and they happen all the time. It’s all the salaciousness that happens out there. It’s clickbait, and it hurts my feelings and it dehumanises people..
“It doesn’t matter to me what people say.
“They’re saying it for their own reasons and not for the right reasons or the truth. And I’m used to that, because I’m a public figure. I don’t read people’s reviews, I don’t read people’s comments. I don’t care. That’s not part of my life.”
Although ex Sonni, 37, initially pushed for sole custody, the Hurt Locker actor claimed he wasn’t concerned about potentially losing precious time with his little girl.
He explained: “That’s just lawyers talking. That’s lawyers arguing. The custody was easy.”
Last year, whispers circulated about Jeremy’s romance with fashion journalist CC Mason, but he clarified he’s now single and pouring his heart into Ava and his charity, RennerVation, which supports vulnerable youngsters in foster care.
When asked if romance is on the cards, he replied: “No, not at the moment.
“I’m pretty focused on my daughter and the foundation for the kids.”
