Former supermodel Jodie Kidd has confessed that during her modelling days, the girls were only give champagne and cigarettes while backstage and “no food or water” was made available
Jodie Kidd has admitted models were only fed cigarettes and champagne backstage.
The star has revealed that models like her throughout the nineties and noughties were only given champagne and cigarettes backstage at fashion shows with no water and no food.
The 46-year-old former supermodel, who started in the industry as a teenager, said that was all that was available from nine in the morning onwards. Kidd added that no-one wanted to drink the champagne.
She told the Made by Mammas podcast: “There was zero support as well. I mean right now, I mean, literally backstage was champagne and cigarettes from nine o’clock in the morning onwards from the first show.”
“There was no… And none of us wanted to drink champagne. There was just no water. There was no food.
“There was nothing. And so nowadays, you’ve got… agencies are a lot more kind of on it. You’ve got, actually, people backstage that kind of look after you.
“You’ve got to have food. You’ve got to have all of these things.”
The former model is now a pub owner and runs the Half Moon in Kirdford, West Sussex. She recently took to TikTok and said there are “tough, tough times ahead”.
Her message came after changes to the Employer National Insurance Contributions, which will be set in place from April.
She said: “This is a lovely time to be in the hospitality industry and to own a pub.”
“What is Labour doing? They have obviously hiked up National Insurance and business rates tax. They are also saying they’re going to shrink the size of a pint and they are clamping down on flexible working hours.”
“I thought starting a pub going straight into the pandemic and the cost of living crisis was hard enough but god help us all in the pub industry.”
Kidd signed off her message by saying that the news will bring on “very sad times”.
