Katie Price has been left ‘devastated’ after her son Harvey, who has Prader-Willi syndrome, autism and a number of other learning difficulties, was kicked out of his residential care home
Katie Price is reeling from the news that her eldest son Harvey has been ‘kicked out’ of his residential care home.
The 46 year old former glamour model and mother of five is dealing with the fallout after the 22 year old, who lives with Prader-Willi syndrome, autism, septo-optic dysplasia, and various learning difficulties, was deemed ‘too difficult’ by the facility.
Prader-Willi syndrome is a genetic condition that causes an insatiable appetite, potentially leading to obesity and diabetes. Katie opened up about her disappointment and frustration on her weekly podcast, The Katie Price Show, revealing how let down she feels by the council’s notification that she must now scramble to find new accommodations for Harvey.
Sharing the distressing update with her listeners, Katie expressed: “Harvey is supposed to be moving in four-and-a-half weeks, they’ve changed management and said they won’t be able to cater for Harv, because he’s too difficult. So now I’ve got to find another placement for him… so yeah, more drama to deal with.”
Later in the podcast episode, she continued: “We worked months and months for that and he was told four-and-a-half weeks before that he couldn’t go there, and Harvey has been doing the countdown. Well it’s stressful because you want the right thing for your child and it is a lot of time and effort to go back and do more meetings, more forms, it is very time-consuming because you want the best for your child.”
This comes after Katie shared her worries regarding her son’s health due to his unique genetic condition just last week. She’s planning on putting 28-stone Harvey on injections to manage his weight as a drastic measure to help him, reports the Mirror.
Stating that leading medics have recommended the injections to potentially better Harvey’s life, Katie admitted the stakes are incredibly high. The reality is stark for the mother of five, as she explained to the Sun how Harvey faces the danger of suffering a heart attack due to his condition, Prader-Willi syndrome, which means he’s currently not losing any weight.
Katie opened up: “He’s putting on weight. It doesn’t matter what we do. He can’t put his shoes on without sweating. He can’t walk far because he gets out of breath.”
