Married at First Sight UK star JJ Slater, who has been dating Katie Price for over a year, has revealed he had to go to A&E and has shared a snap of a cannula in his arm
Katie Price’s boyfriend JJ Slater was rushed to A&E in a worrying health scare.
The 31-year-old Married at First Sight Star has been dating Katie, 46, since last year. The pair have sparked split rumours on several occasions during their relationship, but it’s believed Katie wants to marry the reality star as soon as possible.
JJ has now taken to Instagram to reveal that he went to hospital late at night due to issues relating to his type 1 diabetes. He posted a snap from hospital that showed a cannula in his arm.
The TV star shared his frustration as he wrote: “Hate to see it. The reality of living with type 1 diabetes. Late nights in A&E.”
JJ was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes back in 2023. He said his body was “deteriorating” and realised something was wrong as he was losing weight quickly and was getting lightheaded often – on once occasion he fell to he floor after getting up from the sofa.
He said of his symptoms at the time: “I was waking up four to five times needing the toilet. Then I started to lose weight quite quickly. I lost about a stone and a half in three weeks, but I was still eating the same and going to the gym every day.
“I hadn’t changed anything, but my body was deteriorating so I knew something was wrong. I was getting lightheaded often, I was on the sofa watching TV and then stood up and fell to the floor… so, I knew something wasn’t right.
JJ added: “I had a blood test and my doctor said I probably wouldn’t hear anything until after Christmas, but I woke up the following morning to three missed calls from 111 and voicemails saying ‘as soon as you wake up, go to hospital’ … I have never woken up so quickly. I panicked thinking it was the worst news.”
Katie actually reached out to him in December of last year following his diagnosis and the pair ended up going for coffee. Chatting to Woman’s Own about their first interaction, Katie explained: “I’d read in the paper that he’d got diabetes. I thought, ‘Wow, that’s quite harsh,’ as diabetes is a life-changing thing to have.
“I messaged and said, ‘I hope you’re okay with your diabetes’. And he said, ‘Oh, I’m really embarrassed.’ I went ‘Why?’ Turns out he’d messaged me two years ago but I never saw it. It must have been deleted so it was obviously meant to be.”
Katie confirmed her romance with JJ last February after weeks of rumours. She has since shared that she is struggling to be as happy as possible but insists that isn’t to do with him.
“He’s the most kindest, genuine, easygoing, chilled person. But do I feel my most happiest and do I feel free? No. It’s not a reflection on him, maybe that’s what I need to change for myself.”
