The Met Gala reportedly upped security for the 2025 event over fears Kanye West coul ‘crash’ the soiree uninvited, after the rapper shared a controversial outfit design
Vogue’s Anna Wintour reportedly beefed up security at the Met Gala due to fears that Kanye West might gatecrash the star-studded bash uninvited.
An insider close to the event spilled to RadarOnline: “Anna is not messing around. There’s a full protocol in place if Kanye is spotted anywhere near the carpet.”
This heightened state of alert comes after Kanye’s unsettling social media stunt where he posted a graphic sketch of what appeared to be a KKK-inspired outfit, stating he would wear it to the Met Gala.
The sketch, shared on his X account showed a figure with a bare chest, boots, gloves and a pointed hood.
West captioned the post with “MET BALL 2025,” which ignited a firestorm online. His fans were quick to slam the design, with many drawing parallels to a similar controversial ensemble West donned in an interview with DJ Akademiks, reports the Mirror US.
The immediate backlash has put the Met Gala team on high alert, fearing Kanye might stir up some headline-grabbing drama on their big night.
A top-tier fashion security expert warned the publication: “It’s not just about the outfit – it’s about the chaos he brings. After what happened at the Grammys, no one’s taking chances.”
Kanye’s ex Kim Kardashian was among the high profile names in attendance at the Met Gala. There were claims that she was anxious about a potential run-in.
A source close to the TV megastar told RadarOnline: “Kim is focused on her look and her brand. The last thing she wants is Kanye pulling a stunt and hijacking the night.”
While Kanye isn’t officially blacklisted from the event, his mere mention is causing a stir backstage.
A source said: “If he shows up, there’s a plan. Anna has made it clear-no drama on her carpet.”
The Met Gala is famed for its opulent guest list and fashion spectacles. Held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the swanky gathering typically welcomes around 450 illustrious guests, ranging from showbiz royalty to political bigwigs.
This year’s theme is Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, and Wintour will share the co-chair duties for the 2025 extravaganza with luminaries like Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, and Pharrell Williams.
