Millie Bobby Brown recently called out journalists and critics that have slammed her red carpet outfits and took things a step further by turning a glamorous vampy look to prove them wrong
Millie Bobby Brown is looking as gorgeous as ever.
Despite recent criticism of her appearance, the 21 year old Stranger Things star proved haters wrong and stunned in a wine red dress that showed off her figure. Brown was recently the target of online trolling and posted a video calling out critics by name.
At a photocall for The Electric State at The Cinema In The Power Station on Tuesday evening, Millie turned heads with long blonde locks and a bright red lip. She posed with her hands on her hips as she smiled to the cameras.
Controversy surrounding Millie’s appearance began this week and Little Britain creator Matt Lucas joked that she looked like his character Vicky Pollard, due to her pink tracksuit and blonde hair. He reposted a picture with the caption: “No but yeah but,” which left the Netflix star less than impressed.
She later took to Instagram to share a video of herself saying: “I want to take a moment to address something that I think is bigger than just me, something that affects every young woman who grows up under public scrutiny […] This isn’t journalism. This is bullying.”
Closing her heartfelt plea, the Enola Holmes actress urged for a kinder culture, saying: “Let’s do better. Not just for me, but for every young girl who deserves to grow up without fear of being torn apart for simply existing.”
Matt addressed Millie’s concerns just hours later, clarifying his intentions and offering an apology for any offence caused. In a response on Instagram, he stated: “Dear Millie, I just saw your post and wanted to respond, and provide some context. Nearly 25 years ago I co-wrote and appeared in a sketch show called Little Britain.
“There was a character in it called Vicky Pollard, who had blonde hair and always wore a pink top, and in the photo you had blonde hair and wore a pink top so I pointed out the similarity by posting one of her catchphrases.
“I thought you looked terrific and I was mortified when the press wrote that I ‘slammed’ you, firstly because that’s not my style, and secondly because I think you’re brilliant. I would not have posted it if I had thought it would have upset you but I realise it has and for that I apologise. Matt.”
