Olivia Bowen weeps live on air while announcing baby’s gender after losing twin

Olivia Bowen was in floods of tears while announcing her child’s gender. The Love Island alum got emotional on ITV’s Loose Women as she opened up about a recent heartbreaking loss, before ending on a high note with the exciting revelation that she’s set to welcome a baby girl.

The news comes after Olivia and hubby Alex Bowen, who she met on Love Island back in 2016, shared a gut-wrenching update that one of their expected twins has sadly passed away.

While on Loose Women, host Christine Lampard was there to offer support as Olivia couldn’t hold back tears. However, spirits were lifted when Olivia and Alex, together with little Abel, played a gender reveal video for everyone in the studio, announcing a daughter is on the way — which led to a round of applause from the audience.

Opening up about her worries regarding the twin pregnancy, she admitted: “As soon as we found out it was twins I was already quite nervous because we’ve not had a great history of twins in our family but you were so positive weren’t you?” she said, turning to her partner Alex, who was all smiles at the thought of being a dad to twins.

The couple spent a fortnight making plans for their growing brood, picking out car seats for the tots and dreaming up nursery designs, however at the eight-week checkup the parents discovered something heartbreaking. Olivia explained: “We went back at eight weeks and something happened called vanishing syndrome,” reports the Express.

She then said: “I’d had no symptoms, I’d had no pain, no bleeding, absolutely nothing to tell me that was what we were walking into and I guess from that moment we were completely floored.”

“We were expecting to have these two little babies. Vanishing twin syndrome – it can as it just says literally vanish. The one beautiful part of it that I try to hold on to is that they do absorb into your body, those cells become a part of you and that’s what I’ve sort of been holding on to.”

Amidst the tears, there was also a glimmer of happiness; Olivia described the experience as a “bittersweet rollercoaster of emotions” because they also learned the other baby was thriving.

The former Love Islanders are keen to break the stigma of miscarriage

“It’s becoming easier by speaking about it with other women and that’s what we wanted to do and especially Alex being a dad as I haven’t seen many men talking about it – we just want to change that perception of not being able to talk about miscarriage openly.”
