P Diddy’s lawyer has stepped down.

In a motion for withdraw of counsel filed in New York on Friday, Anthony Ricco said that “under no circumstances can I continue to effectively serve as counsel for Sean Combs.”

Discussions between Ricco and lead counsel Mark Agnifilo reportedly took place before the motion was filed. Ricco said that he won’t be providing details to support the application.

He added that government prosecutors had been notified and didn’t take a stance. Ricco’s decision will reportedly not delay the current schedule regarding Combs’ trial set for May.

Diddy is currently locked up in Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Centre after his arrest back in September 2024. He has been charged with racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking and transportation to engage in prostitution.

The I’ll Be Missing You rapper has denied the claims and pleaded not guilty to the charges. If Diddy is convicted, the chart-topping musician could face life behind bars on the racketeering charge and a minimum of 15 years for sex trafficking.

Diddy, who was formerly known as Puff Daddy, rose to fame as a rapper, record producer and record executive. He has been credited with helping the careers of Biggie Smalls, Mary J Blige and Usher.

Diddy has seven children, including Quincy, Justin, Chance and Love Sean, with four women.
