Michelle Keegan and Mark Wright were reportedly ‘forced to hide in their room’ after their mansion was broken into by masked raiders, who fled the scene in a getaway car
Pregnant Michelle Keegan and Mark Wright were left terrified after masked raiders targeted their lavish Essex mansion. The Brassic actress, 37, and her reality TV star husband reportedly heard the sound of their porch window being smashed before their alarm system was triggered on Tuesday evening.
It’s believed that four intruders were in the property for nearly a minute before they fled after hearing Mark’s shouts. The authorities were promptly alerted via the couple’s security system.
While nothing was stolen from their £3.5million pad, the pair were understandably “very shaken up” by the ordeal, which ended with the suspects fleeing in a getaway car. An Essex Police spokesperson confirmed yesterday that investigations into the burglary are ongoing.
He said: “It was reported four suspects had forced entry to an address, carrying out a search of the property before fleeing. Within eight minutes, our officers were on the scene. We are continuing to support and safeguard the victims and are conducting high-visibility patrols in the area.
“We are exploring a number of lines of inquiry including but not limited to forensic opportunities, CCTV and witness statements. Anyone with information should contact us as soon as possible,” reports the Mirror.
Speaking to The Sun, a source revealed the terrifying ordeal of a couple who were shaken to the core during a raid at their abode. “It was a traumatic experience for both of them but they are relieved that neither of them were injured. Mark did the sensible thing and stayed with his wife to make sure she was OK and they waited for police to arrive before leaving the room.”
The source also admitted that the pair were rattled by the nasty incident.
It was Mark’s quick thinking that came into play when he caught on to what was unfolding. Thanks to their alarm system the police were contacted straight away while the couple themselves were alerted to the intruders.
In recent years, the couple have often shared glimpses of their mansion on social media while undertaking renovation work to create their dream home. Posting on Instagram, almost 700,000 people have been clued into the stunning interiors and property layout.
The break-in comes just weeks after Michelle and Mark revealed they were set to become parents for the first time, with a heartfelt pregnancy announcement last December.
Michelle and Mark tied the knot in 2015, with Michelle revealing that the constant speculation about them not having children in the early years of their marriage led to her wanting to keep her personal life private. Michelle confessed to Grazia: “Around the time we got married, I was open about the fact that I wanted to have a family but then, because we didn’t choose to have children within a certain time, there was lots of speculation,
“I made the decision to not talk publicly about that side of my life. I’m going to be 38 this year and, as I’ve got older, I feel more confident about my boundaries.”
