Raven icon ‘breaks silence’ as beloved CBBC series finally lands on streaming

EXCLUSIVE: CBBC’s most iconic gameshow show Raven is now available to watch on BBC iPlayer, 15 years after the iconic noughties series was axed leaving fans devastated

Raven is back and available to stream now.

A spokesperson for James Mackenzie, the iconic CBBC actor who played the show’s titular character from 2002 to 2010, told Daily Star: “James is currently pursuing other projects but he’s delighted with the resurgence of interest [in Raven] as it is a production very close to his heart.”

It was recently announced that Raven had been added to iPlayer and the TV host took to X/Twitter to share his excitement. Mackenzie tweeted: “RAVEN IS BACK ON @BBCiPlayer what the actual?!”

James signed off his tweet with: “Enjoy young warriors,” before adding the hashtag #letthechallengebegin, his character’s famous tagline.

Former CBBC fans were over the moon to hear that the popular gameshow is now available to watch and rushed to share their thoughts. One person branded Raven “iconic” and said that the series was “their childhood show.”

Another joked: “OMG see everyone in 3-4 business day, I have matters to attend to,” while a third person said: “”Funny, I was just thinking this when I was watching Traitors. I missed this. I want more shows like this since I’ve learned I missed various ones that came out before/around the time I was born. This was great fun to watch.”

Raven fans were also gobsmacked to find out the meaning behind the show’s main villain’s name. Nevar, who wore a black cloak and a gold mask, was Raven’s arch enemy and fans have only just discovered what the word means.

Over on Reddit, someone explained: “Took me way too long to realise the villain, Nevar, is just Raven backwards.” Someone joked that they “Nevar realised that,” while others said they were “mind blown” over the revelation.
