EXCLUSIVE: Danny Jones and Maura Higgins were caught smooching at the BRITs after party on Sunday morning. Now a relationship expert has waded on what this means for his marriage
Married dad Danny Jones appeared to have been caught kissing newly single Maura Higgins at the BRITs after party – but can he save his relationship with his wife?
The I’m a Celeb ‘King of the Jungle’ and McFly star,38, got married to wife Georgia Horsley back in 2014 and later had a son, Cooper, in 2018.
However, it seems that there is trouble in paradise after Danny and fellow campmate Maura, 34, were caught smooching at the Universal Music after-party bash early hours of Sunday morning (March 2).
But, what will be the future of Danny and Georgia? Will their relationship come crumbling down or can he rekindle his marriage?
Well, we spoke with relationship expert and sex therapist Georgina Vass to find out if and how Danny can grovel out of the dog house.
And it turns out that the ‘drunken kiss’ might not be as big of a deal most think it is.
Georgina told us: “Every individual will have their own view of what is ‘cheating’ and/or what is ‘permissible’ within their own distinct relationships.
“Emotional infidelity is hard to define but is broadly when someone forms an emotional or romantic connection with someone other than their partner, and their partner may view that connection as threatening or outside the accepted boundaries of what is permissible in their relationship.
“People tend to be more hurt and upset by emotional infidelity than sexual infidelity when asked to choose which is more distressing.”
As the relationship expert mentioned, everyone has different boundaries when it comes to infidelity and what is defined as such.
A quick physical peck might mean a major marriage breakdown to some, others could glaze over it without much thought.
But, regardless, communication is key. Georgina explained that if Danny and Georgia want to move on from this situation, and continue a healthy marriage, then they need to be open to chatting about their feelings and emotions.
The dating guru continued: “A couple who chooses to recommit rather than quit, can repair with open communication, rebuilding trust, and the process of forgiveness.
“Infidelity can be a cause and product of relationship strain so both partners working towards a deep understanding of how this event occurred is vital to repair the relationship.
“Couples therapy can help as it may be difficult to communicate effectively without strong emotions in the early days.”
So, does this ‘drunken kiss’ end at just that or is it a major red flag for things to come within a relationship? Well, as said before by relationship whizz Georgina, it’s all to do with individual boundaries and communication.
Regardless of the healthiness of a relationship, the expert shared that all couples will experience ‘ruptures’.
And some incidents, like a kiss with a fellow campmate at an after party, could strengthen the bond within the relationship instead of break it.
Georgina concluded: “Ruptures are inevitable even in healthy relationships and when they occur it may be helpful for partners to reflect upon their personal boundaries and values.
“Everyone will have their own unique version of their limits and red flags.
“Some couples are able to strengthen and deepen their bond and trust with their partner following a rupture.”
Danny, Maura nor Georgia have released a statement as of yet. However, Danny’s wife and mother of the his child has ‘broken’ her silence.
