Ricky Gervais has admitted it hurts when he walks and things are only going to get worse as he grows old.

The comedy genius has warned his fans they need to get used to him looking more decrepit, adding: “It is all downhill for me now.”

The Office star said his ability to move is becoming less and less – and his legs now feel so tight they are like “false pirate legs.”

The 63-year-old confessed: “My health is getting worse and worse. This is as good as it’ll ever be (health wise). It’s not like I will get better. Do you know what I mean?

“They won’t go, oh, he is 70 now,” he continued. “Oh, he was terrible at 60, but this is it.

“I’m reminded every day that I’m getting older. Everything is sort of just slower and aches more. When I walk downstairs, it’s like I’ve got false legs like pirate legs – i’m just stiff. It all just hurts.

“And I just fall about over the day and then start again the next day.”

Gervais was chatting about growing old in a chat with ABC News in America and admitted that he much prefers playing doctor himself – and self diagnosing all of his many ailments.

He joked: “Honestly, our drugs cabinet is amazing. I have got a bunion and I’ve got a little spongy thing I have to put on my toe. If I walk too far, it starts to hurt, but I’ll just carry them.

“I’ll just carry on until I just die. Sometimes I even Google cancer, so I get there straight away (with my self diagnostics). It is like I can’t wait. “
