Ruth Langsford could be facing an uncertain future as a TV presenter, with a QVC source claiming the shopping channel is set to have a ‘massive shake-up’ following
ITV’s Ruth Langsford might be facing a TV axe, according to a source from QVC, where the 65-year-old TV star currently serves as an ambassador and designer for the shopping channel, even hosting her own live show every Thursday.
But with the retail giant reportedly in supposed financial troubles – they’re slashing 900 jobs stateside, says USA Today – sources suggest the UK could be next in line. Instead of sticking with its traditional TV format, QVC is rumoured to be switching their business model, aiming to dominate live social shopping on platforms like TikTok, Facebook, and YouTube.
An insider spoke to the Express, hinting that these major shifts could leave some jobless – including Ruth. They revealed: “A lot of us might need to consider looking for work elsewhere soon as the company keeps considering cuts, and that leaves no exceptions.”
They added: “There have been whispers that even some of the celebrity faces might have to go too, including Ruth Langsford. They seem to be looking at an overhaul of the way that things are running, including potentially having a shake-up of the faces of the channel.
“Everything is up in the air for now, so only time will tell what actually happens to everyone’s jobs. While the company seems to have hope in the changes, it is a worrying time for the employees,” reports the Express.
Ruth first appeared on QVC back in February 2017, teaming up with Jackie Kabler to co-host Ruth Langsford’s Fashion Edit. Since then, she’s been promoting her own fashion line, boasting everything from “Cosy jumpers and cardigans, smart trousers, tops and dresses. Plus, discover chic accessories and athleisure pieces.”
The Daily Star have reached out to both QVC and representatives of Ruth Langsford for comment.
The famous TV presenter has already had a few trying moments this year following her split from her ex and former This Morning colleague Eamonn Holmes. The ITV star has previously labelled 2024 as a “tough year”.
Ruth and Eamonn, who tied the knot 14 years ago, announced the news about their split last May after nearly three decades together. A representative confirmed the news, stating: “Their marriage is over and they are in the process of divorcing.”
Since then, Eamonn has started a relationship with a 42-year-old councillor named Katie Alexander. The couple have been pictured in public together several times, and even enjoyed a luxury Mediterranean cruise last summer, with reports later stating they were looking at homes together.
