Soap legend Ryan Thomas admits agreeing to return to Corrie was a no-brainer

Coronation Street viewers will be thrilled to know that Ryan Thomas is returning to the ITV soap to reprise his role of Jason Grimshaw this year after a mighty hiatus

Soap star Ryan Thomas has admitted that agreeing to return to the cobbles was an absolute no-brainer decision.

The Dancing On Ice star is reprising his role as Jason Grimshaw after almost a decade away. Bosses convinced him to return for Sue Cleaver’s final storyline as his on-screen mum Eileen.

Despite being retired from acting, Ryan jumped at the chance. He said: “I got the call from Sue Cleaver asking if I would come back for her exit, so I’m going to step onto the cobbles for five minutes.

“I’m very loyal to where I came from. Corrie is where my career started. They taught me everything I know. I wouldn’t be where I am now if it wasn’t for the show. That place will always have my respect.”

Ryan is due to start filming within weeks. The hunk is thrilled his three children will get to see him in action on the soap. He said: “I’m excited. My kids weren’t alive when I was on Corrie, so it’ll be nice for them to see this. Maybe I will get to take my kids on the cobbles!”

The star’s comeback will air on the ITV soap later this year. The star will also be back on the box later this month on new game show 99 To Beat, which he will be hosting alongside his brother Adam.
