Taylor Swift fans mock Joe Alwyn’s career as he walks Oscars red carpet

Joe Alwyn has been the subject of hatred from Taylor Swift fans since their shock split in 2023 – and the trolling continued on the red carpet at the 95th Academy Awards

English actor Joe Alwyn kept it basic as he walked the Oscars red carpet, wearing a black tux, with a deep blue lapel with a red and yellow brooch pinned.

Joe turned up to celebrate his latest project, The Brutalist, which has been nominated for 10 Academy Awards this year, including Best Picture, Best Directing, Best Film Editing, Best Music (Original Score), Best Production Design, and Best Writing (Original Screenplay).

But after Joe’s split from pop royalty Taylor Swift, he is been receiving a lot of flak online. That hostility was buzzing around the web as he glided down the red carpet.

As he arrived, one fan said: “the jobless rate increased all of sudden at the Oscar’s.”

As the glitzy bash approached, another fan threw shade at him on X, blasting: “Joe alwyn has been out of a job for a long ass time, he’s had two roles in like a decade. bro is not good at what he does and has zero work ethic idk, if y’all want us to stop dragging him stop giving him unearned praise.”

The jokes about his attire turned sour as some compared his look to that of a “waiter” you might spot at a glitzy Hollywood bash. Critics were quick to label his black suit “boring” urging blokes to up their style stakes for these glam events.

Another fan wrote: “i didnt know they letting the waiters on the red carpet as well.”

But Joe kept his chin up, brushing off the naysayers who’ve been on his case since the 2023 split.

Speaking to The Guardian about juggling fame and a high-profile romance, he said: “I have tried just to focus on controlling what I can control. And right from the beginning, tried to focus on the things that are meaningful for me: friends, family, work, of course. So noise outside of that, I think I’ve done what lots of people who find themselves in the public eye do, which is just try and ignore it. If you don’t, and if you let all of that other stuff in, and if it starts to affect you and your behavior, you’re living from the outside in. And then you’re pretty f—–.”

Reflecting on his past with Taylor and dealing with the limelight post-breakup, he added: “We’re talking about something that’s a while ago now in my life. So that’s for other people. That’s what I feel.”
