UK’s Eurovision entry have winning chance as Graham Norton shares ‘advantage’

Remember Monday, the UK entry for Eurovision Song Contest, has impressed viewers with their live vocals, and it’s because of this Graham Norton reckons they have a good chance

Graham Norton says Remember Monday have an advantage with their flawless vocals

Remember Monday have a good chance at this weekend’s Eurovision Song Contest thanks to an “advantage” they have, according to Graham Norton.

Television favourite Graham is hosting BBC One’s Eurovision programming on Saturday (May 17). Speaking ahead of the live show, which the UK automatically qualified for, he had some big words for the girl group.

The country pop girl group – made up of Lauren Byrne, Holly-Anne Hull and Charlotte Steele – are performing their track What The Hell Just Happened? on Saturday night. The odds aren’t looking like they’ll win, but bookies seem to reckon the UK will be at the top end, at least – and fans were impressed with their live vocals, too.

Graham said: “Remember Monday have a great advantage in that they are unlike any other act this year.

“Their vocals and harmonies are flawless, the song has a very strong hook and the trio are hugely likeable.

“With a decent place in the running order they should do very well indeed.”

The running order was revealed after Thursday night’s qualifiers were announced.

The UK are set to perform eighth, in between Ukraine and Austria.

This may be detrimental to how the UK places, as Austria is second favourite to win the show, behind Sweden who are favourites yet again.

Graham has his eye on a few other competitors, too.

He said: “It’s a big year for party anthems and the two that stand out for me are Miriana Conte representing Malta, and EMMY for Ireland with an unlikely banger about an immortal dog (unfortunately they didn’t make it through to the Grand Final).

“Cutting through all the noise I think Italy might have a good year with a classic rock ballad performed by Lucio Corsi.”

He went on: “To be honest I love everything about Eurovision.

“It’s scale and sincerity are unmatched.

“The extreme range of musical styles and talents in the contest combined with the coming together of countries and fans makes it a contest like no other.”

Catch Graham Norton commentating Eurovision on BBC One from 8pm. Rylan Clark and Scott Mills are providing the commentary for the Eurovision Grand Final on BBC Radio 2 and BBC Sounds from 8pm.
