Victoria Beckham’s feud with Nicola Peltz exploded overnight – but did two key moments ‘predict’ the now open warfare?
Brooklyn Beckham, 26, and wife Nicola, 30, have now entered the next stage of the huge family spat after her friends dished out some shocking claims about his relationship with his family.
Rallying around their actress and daughter of a billionaire pal, Nicola’s friends claimed: “We are at this point because Nicola, an outsider coming into the Beckham family, has been able to help Brooklyn see the emotional abuse and toxic behaviour within his family, that it’s not healthy and it’s not normal and it’s not okay.”
This claim has sparked a wave of anger from those in the Beckham camp, reports the Mirror. A source close to the Beckhams dismissed the claim entirely.
Despite some people being in shock about the huge feud that came to a blows when Brooklyn and Nicola missed David’s 50th celebrations, others might have been waiting for this to happen – including insiders who have waited for the “implosion.”
It is believed that tensions between Nicola and Victoria started three years ago – and their wardrobes could have played a massive part in it.
Here, we take a look at the two key moments that could have defined the path of fashionista Victoria and ‘fiery’ Nicola’s relationship.
Wedding dress
Brooklyn married Nicola in a lavish wedding in Palm Beach, Miami, back in 2022. But, the fairytale turned into a cautionary one as the atmosphere began to turn spiky between Nicola and her mother-in-law.
An insider shared that the “build-up to the wedding was horrendous”, which was majorly put down to relations between Victoria and Nicola.
It is believed that the wedding dress drama was at the crux of this. Nicola planned to wear a design by Victoria on her big day – but ended up walking down the aisle in a Valentino gown.
Some felt that Nicola had shunned her mother-in-law’s fashion talents, but she later cleared that up months after the ceremony by saying she “really wanted to” to wear a Victoria Beckham dress.
“I was going to and I really wanted to, and then a few months down the line, she realised that her atelier couldn’t do it, so then I had to pick another dress,” Nicola told Page Six at the time.
“She didn’t say you can’t wear it; I didn’t say I didn’t want to wear it. That’s where it started, and then they ran with that.”
However, now Nicola’s friends have claimed that Victoria offered to design the dress – but then ghosted her stylist Leslie Fremar when it came to sorting out the details.
Eventually, Victoria dropped a text to Nicola saying she couldn’t do the dress, her friend claimed.
Manchester United jacket
The wedding dress wasn’t the only fashion moment to cause a wedge between Nicola and Victoria.
Fast forward to the next year in 2023, where insider Beckham sources commented on a seemingly “bizarre” situation where Nicola donned an identical Dolce and Gabbana biker jacket that Victoria wore back in 2001.
Why was this important? Well, Victoria wore the statement piece to witness Manchester United winning the Premier League – making it one of her biggest fashion moments.
After Nicola was spotted wearing the black and blue number, fashion commentators speculated – including experts at Vogue – that Nicola had rummaged through Victoria’s legendary 00’s wardrobe.
However, Beckham insiders this wasn’t exactly the case. One commented: “If not obsessive, it was definitely the most bizarre behaviour especially given relations weren’t the greatest anyway in the wake of the wedding.”
The second family fashion faux pas was defended by Nicola’s friends who said that she didn’t go through Victoria’s closet, but her own mum had ‘innocently’ bought it for her.
They added that mother Peltz purchased the designer jacket “not knowing Victoria had worn it.” The friend added that Nicola did recognise the jacket, but had “sweet” intentions while wearing it.
“Nicola however did recognize the jacket and thought it was sweet to wear something her mother in law had worn,” the mate said.
“Nicola has only ever attempted to be close to the Beckhams as she’s close with her own family.”
