Social media sensation Alex Warren is now a bigger hit than Elvis, after his hit single Ordinary was the number one song on the UK charts for nine straight weeks
A social media influencer has beat the likes Elvis Presley to claim the crown of longest-running number one single on the UK charts by a US solo artist in 70 years.
Ordinary, the single by YouTube and TikTok sensation Alex Warren has racked up nine weeks in a row at the top, making it the longest-running single since 1955, according to the Offical Charts Company, when US singer Slim Whitman logged an 11-week run with his song Rose Marie.
Warren, who has three million subscribers on YouTube and over 18 million followers on TikTok, has surpassed Elvis Presley, whose single It’s Now Or Never sat at number one for eight weeks in 1960.
Atlantic Records released Ordinary on February 7, following the launch of his debut studio album, You’ll Be Alright, Kid (Chapter 1).
Warren, 24, helped create Hype House, a LA-based collective of social media personalities and TikTok stars, who lived together as they made content together.
He began to make music independently in 2021 before being signed. Ordinary is his only number one single in the UK chart, and his second track to have made it into the top 10.
On TikTok the influencer has been hyping his upcoming tour, posting spoofy clips of himself telling his apathetic “famous friends” that he will go on tour.
Warren also revealed that scalpers have already started listing tickets to his gig for $500 (£377), despite the $50 (£37) tickets not even on sale yet.
In 2021, Warren made the headlines for destroying his then-girlfriend’s car after he bought her a $130,000 upgrade (£109,300).
Warren posted a video of himself to TikTok running over a Toyota Camry with a Mercedes-Benz G-Class SUV before gifting the SUV his now-wife, influencer Kouvr Annon.
Previously, Warren has said he wrote Ordinary for his wife, whom he married in 2024 and met in Hype House.
