Love Island's Dr Alex George gives update 'from frontline' of coronavirus fight

Love Island star Dr Alex George has shared a coronavirus update as he continues to work on the NHS frontline.

The 29-year-old, who found fame on 2018’s Love Island, posted a poignant message on Instagram explaining the national health service is “resilient” and continues to fight against the life-threatening bug.

Dressed in scrubs and covered in with a protective mask, goggles and a hairnet, he urged his following to watch his Youtube video which explains all about covid-19 and life inside a central London hospital.

Underneath the snap, he wrote: “Covid-19 will not win.

“The NHS is so resilient and we can and WILL do this. An update from the frontline, as well as the latest information on when widespread testing likely to occur, is live on my YouTube channel. Link is in bio.”

Alex’s online following soon praised him for using his profile for good, and thanked him for his endless work on the NHS frontline.

“Without doubt your probably the only person I’ve seen who has used reality TV to raise your profile not for self-gain but to use your platform to educate others. Thank you,” one wrote.

A second wrote: “Its weird to see someone who was on a reality TV show actually doing some good in the world and not just being a vapid parasite. Keep up the brilliant work Dr A, your work is appreciated immensely.”

During the 14-minute video, he spoke about the rising cases in Great Britain and dubbed the coronavirus outbreak “a serious crisis”.

He discussed the number of patients with the disease with some “requiring intubation and specialist care” and the vast majority with “a mild to moderate illness”.

He then offered advice and tips for people staying safe, and explained the symptoms people need to look out for.

Alex’s video comes after it was confirmed there are 19,522 cases in the UK, with the death toll currently at 1,228.
