Yungblud has opened up about recording his latest single Weird! revealing why he snubbed thousands of pounds worth of studio recording equipment in favour of his trusty iPhone.
The musician, whose real name is Dominic Harrison, turned to his smart phone after complaining studio equipment made the track sound “too posh”.
The English singer songwriter says he was also keen not to lose his roots and let the track sound too American.
Talking about making the track on Beats by Dr. Dre’s latest online YouTube series Beat x Beat: Inside Out, Yungblud says: “We were recording an acoustic guitar through a microphone, and I was like ‘it sounds too posh’, so I started recording the guitar through an iPhone.
“Like magic, it sounds naive and young but real.
“We tried the drum sound off Garage band on an iPhone, ok what can we do what else can we do now on an iPhone.”
Talking about making the track with his team, the 22-year-old Doncaster lad continued: “They made me feel like I was just making music with my best mates.
“I could just express myself and amplify my energy and put gasoline on a fire.
“So the idea starts like this, then it starts to pick up momentum and then we’re off.”
