Maisie Smith says she will be in tight competition with singer HRVY on Strictly

Strictly favourite Maisie Smith reckons it’s a two-horse race this year between her and Covid-hit pop hunk HRVY.

The EastEnders beauty believes she’s got a secret weapon though, after spending months in lockdown honing her dance moves on TikTok.

Maisie, 19, hopes the viral videos she’s been filming with her mum on social media will give her the edge on the dance floor.

To date, she has amassed an impressive 1.7million followers on the site and a whopping 21.6m likes.

The actress said: “HRVY said he feels like he’s got a bit of competition and I said, ‘Ditto!’

“I feel he’s my biggest rival!

“In lockdown, me and my mum have been learning a hell of a lot of dancing on social media.”

Letting slip he’s been flirting with Maisie, YouTube star HRVY, 21, real name Harvey Leigh Cantwell, teased: “I saw her on the Children In Need special and she’s really good.

“I DM’d her and said it was very average just so she wasn’t too big-headed about it.”

Maisie admitted she’s most excited about getting a sexy glitter make-over.

The actress, who plays Tiffany Butcher in the hit BBC soap, added: “That is genuinely what I think I’m most excited about – being glammed up every single week!

“I remember when Emma (Barton, who plays Honey in EastEnders) did it last year. Watching her every week, she just looked incredible and I can’t wait for them to work that magic on me.”

Revealing what she is looking for in a professional dancing partner, Maisie said: “I think someone who is strict enough to put me in my place. I hope we can have a laugh.”

Others in the line-up include comedian Bill Bailey, actress Caroline Quentin, reality star Jamie Laing, former home secretary Jacqui Smith and The Wanted’s Max George.

They are joined by Radio 1 DJ Clara Amfo, BBC pundit and former NFL star Jason Bell, former Royal Marine and Invictus Games medallist JJ Chalmers and Good Morning Britain’s Ranvir Singh.
