LeAnn Rimes strips completely naked and 'unabashedly' shares psoriasis struggles

LeAnn Rimes Cibrian has demonstrated she is not ashamed to show how a skin disorder has affected her skin.

The American singer, who is famed for her appearance in Cayote Ugly, took to social media to share a collection of images as she posed in a field – revealing the extent of psoriasis on her skin.

Psoriasis causes red, flaky, crusty patches of skin covered with silvery scales and affects people with small patches anywhere on the body.

It’s believed that only two per cent of the UK suffer from the condition which often develops in adults under 35.

The singer-actress’ pictures appeared in an article in Glamour Magazine where she opened up about her experiences with the condition.

LeAnn revealed she was just two-years-old when she was diagnosed and 80 per cent of her body was covered by the time she was six.

After ditching her clothes, the Can’t Fight The Moonlight songstress showcased her marks which spread from her back all the way down to her legs, leaving no area untouched.

Captioning her post which has been liked almost 32,000 times, she said: “So much of my journey, both personally and within my creations, my new chant record and podcast coming out soon, has been excavating pieces that I’ve been hiding and bringing them to the light.

“It’s been and still is a journey of allowing them out and welcoming and reintegrating those fragments back into wholeness. Music has been my gift, and why I’m here.”

“But I want to give a voice to these other pieces of me. And I want to give a voice to what so many other people are going through. This is finally my time to be unabashedly honest about what psoriasis is and what it looks like.

“You know when you say something you’ve been holding in for so long, and it’s such a sigh of relief?

“That’s what these photos are to me. I needed this. My whole body – my mind, my spirit – needed this desperately,” she continued.

Her decision to share her struggles came as the world marked Psoriasis Day.

LeAnn also disclosed that her last flare-up came 16 years ago, adding that the “uncertainty” of 2020 caused her body to change.

“All hell broke loose in the world—and inside of me, as I’m sure it did for so many other people amid this pandemic.

“Stress is a common trigger for psoriasis, and with so much uncertainty happening, my flare-ups came right back,” she said.
