Sheridan Smith to release tell-all autobiography which is 'full of heartbreak'

Screen star Sheridan Smith is to lift the lid on her rollercoaster life with a blockbuster autobiography – despite being just 39.

The Gavin and Stacey favourite will tackling her struggles with mental health issues in her searing book Honestly which will be “packed with heartbreak”.

She’s penned what should be a best-seller when it’s released in October during lockdown.

“I never thought myself old enough to write an autobiography, but when I sat down to think about it I realised, in my 40th year, there was a story to tell,” explained mum-of-one Sheridan – who turns 40 in June.

She has been one of the nation’s favourite stars for over 20 years, starring in comedy classics like The Royle Family to critically acclaimed drama like the Moorside, on stage on London’s West End and releasing two top 20 albums.

“While audiences cheered, critics raved, ratings soared and theatres sold out, for Sheridan, however, all this success and attention brought feelings of imposter syndrome, struggles with her mental health and panic attacks,” reads the official announcement from her publisher.

“As she fought to cope, every vulnerability was scrutinised under the glare of the public eye, adding impossible pressure to an already difficult time for her and her family.

“Sheridan writes very personally and with powerful immediacy about how she faced her demons down, sought help and fought hard for her recovery.

“Happily settled with her partner and their son Billy, she is ready to share her journey: from growing up in Lincolnshire and those early talent competitions, her rise to fame on screen and stage, and her life off it.
