Tommy Lee is one of the most notorious figures in rock ‘n’ roll.
The Mötley Crüe drummer, 58, has sold over 100 million albums worldwide and has had a pretty wild life so far.
Tommy was born in Athens in 1962 and began his music career by joining the heavy metal band Mötley Crüe in 1981.
He married his first wife Elaine Starchuk in 1984 and his second wife Heather Locklear two years later in 1986.
The pair divorced in 1993 and a year later, Tommy met his third wife Pamela Anderson on New Year’s Eve at a Hollywood nightclub, with the couple memorably marrying after just four days of dating.
They went on to have two sons together, 25-year-old Brandon and 23-year-old Dylan, before divorcing in 1998 after three years of marriage.
Lasting longer than the couple’s marriage, however, is the legacy of their now-infamous sex tape.
Sex tape
Tommy and Pamela recorded their sex tape during their honeymoon in 1995.
The footage of the pair’s canoodling was famously stolen and later sold to a porn distributor by Rand Gauthier, a disgruntled electrician who had been working at the couple’s Malibu home before getting fired.
Rand later said that Tommy pointed a gun at his head when he went back to the property to collect his tools, leading him to take revenge.
The tape was released in 1996 and garnered huge public attention.
Seth Rogen will star as Gauthier in the forthcoming HBO miniseries Pam & Tommy, while Pamela is played by Lily James.
Marvel star Sebastian Stan will portray Tommy.
Cheating death
Tommy and his bandmates Mick Mars, Vince Neil and Nikki Sixx detailed their risky and drug-fuelled lifestyle in the 2001 Mötley Crüe autobiography The Dirt.
The book was made into a film starring Game of Thrones actor Iwan Rheon, Machine Gun Kelly and Douglas Booth in 2019, with viewers unable to believe the band’s antics.
It seems Tommy feels the same.
On having “no f***ing idea” how he’s still alive, Tommy told GQ last year: “Honestly, I pinch myself on a daily basis.
“I’m like, how am I still alive?
“Like, do I have some lucky horseshoe stuck in my ass, or is somebody watching over me that I’m unaware of? How is it even possible?”
Fourth wife and ‘full-on farm’
Tommy seems to have calmed slightly in his latter years.
The drummer began dating social media star and podcaster Brittany Furlan in 2017, with the pair tying the knot two years later on Valentine’s Day in 2019.
The couple survived the coronavirus lockdown together with their many pets, with Tommy also telling GQ: “We’ve got a full-on farm over here.
“Fish, turtles, dogs, birds, my kids.
“We hang out and work in my studio a lot. Keeps me busy and out of trouble.”
