BBC Breakfast’s Dan Walker was left feeling down after making a mistake during the foxtrot on Strictly, and his colleague Katherine Downes said he’s “one of those irritating people who’s never not been good at anything”.
On Sunday morning’s show, Katherine was joined by former Strictly Come Dancing professional Flavia Cacace-Mistry to analyse this week’s performances.
Poor Dan was left looking downhearted after a savage 3 points from Craig Revel Horwood, and Anton du Beke said he was “mortified” after Dan stumbled during the Sleeping Beauty-themed dance.
Katherine began by saying: “We’ve got to talk about Dan first, haven’t we?

“Because he’s got all those ballroom elements, but just that big mistake. You could see his shoulders slump when he had to face the criticism of the judges. I really felt for him.”
Dance pro Flavia agreed: “He’s going to be good at the ballroom, you need to just stick with it. Keep going, keep working on that hold,” she advised.

Stunning Flavia said Dan has one key problem: “Obviously he doesn’t have that performance experience, when something goes wrong, immediately you can see it in his face.
“I was like, ‘No! Keep going!’ He did keep going though, so that’s good. Hopefully it’s just a learning curve.”
Katherine added: “I think he’s one of those irritating people who’s never not been good at anything! So for him to make that error, that was the mistake, wasn’t it? He quickly got back into it though.”

Flavia agreed with Katherine and said again that Dan just has to be mindful of his facial expressions, and says he might have got away with it if he’s smiled more.
“He let his face sort of tell you, because sometimes on the screen you can’t actually see the mistakes,” she explained.
“It’s different to watching live so he could have gotten away with it a little bit more. I think now it’s happened once, he now knows that if it does happen again, he’s just got to keep going, keep smiling.”

Both Flavia and Katherine said they are hoping Dan survives the results show tonight, with Flavia encouraging: “I still have really big hopes for his ballroom. He’s also shown that he can do a lot of side by side.
“He’s got good arms, good hands. Nice extensions,” as Katherine agreed: “Kudos to him. I can’t think of anything more terrifying than dancing live on a Saturday night.

“So Dan, well done. We’re all with you. Hopefully, we’ll see him through tonight,” added his colleague.
Viewers will find out on Sunday night if Dan has made it through to next week’s show, after his Sleeping Beauty themed performance for Movie week only received 21 points from the judges, placing him second from the bottom.
