Coronation Street fans devastated as second character dies after gun tragedy

Coronation Street fans were left heartbroken after Natasha Blakeman died, succumbing to her injuries after Harvey Gaskell shot her.

Natasha is the second person to die after last week’s horrific scenes, which also saw Johnny Connor (Richard Hawley) lose his life.

While Johnny died after trying to save Jenny (Sally Ann Matthews) from the sinkhole, Natasha (Rachel Leskovac) died after Harvey (Will Mellor) shot her, thinking she was Leanne (Jane Danson).

Viewers were heartbroken when the upsetting scene aired, with Natasha’s son Sam (Jude Riordan) and his dad Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) being told the news.

One said: “Oh Natasha! Poor Sam, my heart is broken for him.”

Another tweeted: “Why why did Natasha have to die… Sam has me heartbroken.”

A third wrote: “Well I wasn’t expecting that! I thought Natasha was going to be on the street for years to come, she was fab! Played so brilliantly by Rachel Leskovac.”

Someone else said: “Oh dear god, I look like I’ve seen the ending of Marley and Me on a loop for four hours straight. Phenomenal performances from Rachel and Jude and Ben, such a tragic ending but played incredibly, farewell Natasha, poor Sam.”

A fifth added: “I’m actually sad about Natasha dying. This is so sad.”

As another Corrie fan said: “I’m gutted, we get Natasha back after a whole decade, she’s such a fresh character, love how she’s so confident and assertive but full of empathy. Her dynamic with Sam and the Platts is great, and she’s going to get killed off.”

Sam had been excited to see his mum after she had surgery to try and stop an internal bleed.

He wrote a card for her with Nick by his side, when a nurse entered the room.

She asked to speak to Nick privately, but Sam was adamant he should hear too.

When Nick told him otherwise, the young lad said he’d go and wait with his mum in her room.

It was then that the nurse stopped him and told him the devastating news.

She said: “We did everything we could but I’m really sorry to say we couldn’t stop the internal bleeding.

“I’m afraid your mum has died.”

The episode ended with a devastated Sam stunned to silence.

How will he cope as he deals with the terrible news?

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV
