Hollywood actor Idris Elba is more than a talented Hollywood celebrity, he’s also known for being a respected DJ who has performed at Ibiza super clubs, festivals, and a high-profile royal wedding.
The 49-year-old has previously revealed that he performed at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding reception in Windsor in 2018.
But royal commentator Richard Eden has claimed the duchess insisted on what he should play in his latest column in the Daily Mail.
Elba said that the former American actress took charge and told him what songs to put on for the celebrity and royal guests.
He explained: “Meghan had sent me a playlist, so I knew what she wanted already.”
The DJ has performed for Madonna and collaborated with Sir Paul McCartney in the past which he explained were all “high-pressure gigs.”
However, when asked which gig was most stressful he said: “The wedding, no doubt. This wasn’t like my cousin’s wedding.”
“This wasn’t at the community hall – the reception.
“This was a big, big deal.”
The ceremony was held at Windsor Castle on Saturday, May 19 in 2018.
The celebrations after were at Frogmore House, the Grade I listed former home of Queen Victoria’s mother.
The couple had the ultimate fairy tale wedding with no expense spared for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
Elba added how the Sussexes are friends which added to the mounting pressure at the time.
He said: “They’re good friends and I wanted to make sure they had a great time, so there was a lot of pressure.”
It comes as Meghan’s brother claims their dad Thomas Markle Sr didn’t approve of Prince Harry.
Harry might appear to be the perfect husband for royal fans but it’s said he didn’t tick any boxes for father Thomas.
The Suits actress’ half-brother Thomas Markle Jr., revealed 37-year-old Harry failed to impress Meghan’s paternal side of the family.
The older sibling appeared on Big Brother VIP in Australia, where he said: “My dad doesn’t approve of him.
“My father says he couldn’t even protect those chickens in their backyard if he needed to.”
