Actress Jennifer Aniston has hit back at people who claim she “chose career over kids.”
The 52-year-old Friends star slammed those for weighing in on her “personal” life and “medical” history.
The Hollywood star recently appeared as the cover star for The Hollywood Reporter and revealed how people project themselves onto you.
However, she went on to say that her “job” was to “show you what I’m capable of, and you decide if you want to subscribe.”
The Morning Show star, tole the publication: “I used to take it all very personally — the pregnancy rumours and the whole ‘Oh, she chose career over kids’ assumption.
“It’s like, ‘You have no clue what’s going with me personally, medically, why I can’t … can I have kids?’ They don’t know anything.”
Jennifer added how people feel the need to assume things about her life which she finds “hurtful” and “nasty.”
Previously the actress opened up about her decision to not have children.
She said: “The sheer amount of resources being spent right now by press trying to simply uncover whether or not I am pregnant (for the bajillionth time… but who’s counting) points to the perpetuation of this notion that women are somehow incomplete, unsuccessful, or unhappy if they’re not married with children.”
Jennifer continued by adding how everyone is complete in their own way, with or without a partner or child,
She said: “We get to decide for ourselves what is beautiful when it comes to our bodies. That decision is ours and ours alone. Let’s make that decision for ourselves and for the young women in this world who look to us as examples.”
“We don’t need to be married or mothers to be complete. We get to determine our own ‘happily ever after’ for ourselves.”
The star added how it becomes awkward when people congratulate her on her “fictional pregnancy” but insisted that fans would be the first to know if she ever did decide to be a mother.
In 2018, Jennifer explained how she had gone off the idea of having children after admitting she finds motherhood “quite honestly, kind of frightening”.
“Some people are just built to be wives and have babies,” she added. “I don’t know how naturally that comes to me.”
