Harry Potter star Miriam Margolyes has opened up about her health concerns as she marches into her twilight years.
The 80-year-old opened up about her experience of ageing with Saturday Kitchen’s drinks expert Olly Smith on Friday when she joined him on his podcast, A Glass With.
During the interview, the star admitted that she’s “trying to get in charge of her body” as she insinuated that some specific areas on her body have already “fallen apart.”
She told listeners how she was trying to take care of herself now before she gets older to make her later years more enjoyable.
The 47-year-old drinks specialist asked her whether she’d consider going into politics, wondering: “Is there any possibility that you might take control of the planet? I think we need you very much.”
She replied: “I am not to be a commander of the planet. I am just a little old Jewish lady trying to get in charge of my body, never mind the planet.
“Because you know, when you get old everything falls apart. Your stomach goes to the floor, your t*ts hang round your ankles and I’ve got to firm myself up.”
It comes after the actress shared her fears of dying in her sleep with her co-star Alan Cumming whilst filming their Channel 4 travel series.
She spoke candidly to him about her concerns over ageing, which left her feeling “miserable” during an episode of their three-part series, Miriam And Alan: Lost In Scotland.
Miriam told her close friend: “The problem about ageing is that nobody told me that it was going to happen.
“You are supposed to find out yourself and you do and it’s b****y awful. It’s horrible not being able to run for a bus.
“At night I think, ‘Will I wake up in the morning?’ and then I do. Every night [I think], ‘It is the night I think I won’t wake up’.”
She added: “It’s miserable, but then in the morning I wake up so I am all right again.”
The actress is well known for saying what she thinks, and left This Morning hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield in hysterics last November as she let rip the “most enormous fart”.
Speaking through his giggles, Phillip said: “I can’t, I can’t. Professionally I know I should pull myself together but Miriam’s just done the most enormous fart.”
