Corrie Amy Barlow star grabs coffee away from ITV set with her new on-screen lover

Coronation Street star Elle Mulvaney has been spotted enjoying a coffee away from the ITV set with her new on-screen lover.

The 19-year-old actress, who plays Amy Barlow in the long-running soap, was pictured enjoying a break from filming with Jacob Hay actor Jack James, 25.

They both wrapped up warm in big coats and dressed casually as they enjoyed some time together away from the Cobbles.

Drug dealer Jacob is back on the scene in Weatherfield after he was previously recruited by drug lord Harvey Gaskell (Will Mellor).

However, he was not only seen dealing illegal substances on the soap as he also groomed young people for the drug gang to exploit.

Jacob’s actions saw Amy’s cousin Simon Barlow (Alex Bain) become involved in the gang which led to evil Harvey mistakenly murdering Natasha Blakeman (Rachel Leskovac) instead of Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson).

It seems Jacob has not changed his ways as havoc is set to be unleashed on the famous street as he attempts to justify his reasons for getting involved with the gang.

When Amy bumped into Jacob outside the hospital in recent scenes, he claimed to have left his old life in the past despite him being covered in cuts and bruises.

Jacob recently assured Amy and her pal Summer that he no longer has anything to do with the drugs gang

Over the coming months, Jacob will be seen building a relationship with Amy despite the schoolgirl being rushed to hospital after her drink is spiked, prompting her parents Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) and Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) to think she has taken drugs.

A source told The Sun: “Amy ends up in a bad way in hospital and Steve and Tracy fear the worst.

“They’re convinced she is on drugs – but she is adamant she didn’t take them knowingly.

“It soon becomes clear that she’s been the victim of spiking but Steve and Tracy don’t accept it.

“They are convinced Jacob is leading their daughter astray, and soon the police are investigating.”

Coronation Street boss Iain Macleod recently told The Sun more about his plans for Amy’s new romance.

He explained: “She is quite sensible given her family dynamic and that’s Amy.

“How will Tracy and Steve react to the worst possible boyfriend? They try with failure to strategise this, cut her off financially, reverse psychology.

“All of these things just make things worse and worse, to comedy effects. In the end, they have to bite the bullet and try to get along with this lad.”
