The Chase fans fumed as one eager contestant talked non-stop about his divorce from his first wife on air.
During the latest instalment of the popular ITV game show, TV host Bradley Walsh welcomed the latest batch of quiz heads ready to battle it out to bring home the cash prize.
The former Coronation Street star welcomed Sandra, Emily, Sak and Danny onto the game show as musician Danny stepped up to the plate.
Ahead of the quick-fire round of questions, the banjo player revealed how it was thanks to his divorce from his first wife that he found his musical talent.
Bradley asked: “Have you always done that sort of thing before?”
To which the budding contestant revealed: “No, no it’s brand new to be honest.
“I worked corporate, I worked for a big brewery for about 10 years then I travelled the world selling IT systems for about 20 years.
“Then when I got divorced I retired and I have a different life now.”
In an attempt to move on from the subject, Bradley moved on to what the retired contestant does in his free time.
He explained: “I play the banjo – this is quite new as well.
“The ex-wife, bless her, she bought me a banjo for Christmas about 12, 14 years ago [and I] never played a scene, didn’t even know I wanted a banjo.
“And then I got divorced I spent seven or eight years on my own learning to play after I picked it up.
But while he had The Larkins star’s attention he went on to share another experience he had in his music career.
Danny went on: “Another funny story – I’ve never been to a music festival before until a few years ago and the first one I went to I was actually the opening act.
“That happened,” the star boasted as he went on to bring home £7,000 to the joint prize pot.
But it’s fair to say the new investment in his musical hobby didn’t go down well with viewers as fans took to Twitter to complain about the talented star online.
One user joked: “Is he divorced? He hasn’t mentioned it #thechase” while a third added: “Danny has mentioned his divorce 3 times #thechase.”
But something viewers couldn’t help but notice was his striking resemblance to former EastEnders star Adam Woodyatt who played the role of soap icon Ian Beale.
One user asked: “Are you sure tonight’s #TheChase is not a celebrity edition. First contestant Danny looks more like Adam Woodyatt than #adamwoodyatt himself does!!”
Another user agreed: “Ant & Dec pranking Bradley again … that’s clearly Adam Woodyatt or however you spell his name #TheChase.”
A third user added: “This bloke is the spit of Ian Beale, I don’t think anyone else has noticed though … #TheChase.”
The Chase continues on weekdays from 5pm on ITV.
